Thanks to the OP, this thread shows, if one has any doubt,  that Avsim members are simmers and gamers too. And that we know one thing or two about what is a good game 😁

Absolutely!

But I am going to have to fight you over Inquisition possibly being the best of the series 😮 It's Origins by a country mile! I am prepared to die on this hill! 😂

I do!  Classics as far as I'm concerned.

It's a massive shame the rights to those games are lost in time. Modern versions would be amazing.

No fight, Origin is also very good, I play it regularly.

Simming since 1981 -  [email protected] GHz with 16 GB of RAM and a 1080 with 8 GB VRAM running a 27" @ 2560*1440 - Windows 10 - Warthog HOTAS - MFG pedals - MSFS Standard version with Steam

Another game which seems never to get old for me  :  Portal (and Portal 2) . Puzzles not too easy, not too difficult in a sauce of gentle dry humor. A wonderful way to spend half an hour now and then.

Train Sim World 2 has quite a lot of routes that are quite local to me, so I keep going back to that one.

Also recently played (and completed) Lego Builders Journey. As a huge Lego fan I really enjoyed it. A relaxing puzzle game with a good story to it and the ray tracing and graphics are incredible.

Also started playing Forza Horizon 4 when I got the Xbox, I'm terrible at it but the graphics are pretty amazing and the depth of gameplay is huge!

I play a lot.

At the moment I play Green Hell with my wife. Then Train Simulator, CSGO, GTA, Life Is Strange...

Happy with MSFS 🙂

I know shooter gaming is not the greatest example for our younger generation and is probably not so well accepted by some, but I've been hooked on Sniper Elite 4 multiplayer since the start of the pandemic. At the end of the day it's a game and great fun. There are about a dozen maps, some lend themselves more to close combat, such as urban conflict, while othe rmaps lend themselves more to covert hidden gameplay using sniper skills across dock areas or rural villages. I had no idea playing with others in a team, real time, with voice comms could be such fantastic fun! Funny thing is, while there are quite a few regular youngsters, there are also some older fellas, in their sixties, like myself! BTW, the graphics and degree of realism in this game is stunning. So if you fancy checking out Sniper Elite 4, drop me a PM and we can meet up and I'll walk you through things.

Never was a great one for games. Only got into flight sim a few years back because I was always disappointed with the graphics in games until lately. And visuals are still the thing for me - not interested in role-playing or shooters.

But . . . I have started grabbing a few games when they've come on sale on Steam. Got Red Dead Redemption 2, Truck driving stuff and Train Sim stuff, a couple of Space modelling things, all because I liked the look of them. Trouble is that I never really take the time to learn how to actually play them properly - what I really need is a major "demo" mode so I can just set 'em running and watch their worlds go by.

Most of my actual time at the screen is MSFS, because it gives me a pretty realistic world to explore. But maybe I'll force myself to get to grips with some of the other things I've bought.

I used to waste hours on Pinball, though. And one of my favourite mindless past-times used to be "Slam" (I think it was called) - I must have a root around and see if I can find a copy again!

Edited to add: Hey, thanks for starting this thread! I just Googled, and then went and grabbed a copy of Dosbox and Slam. Didn't realise it was that old (1993). Ah, takes me back to my wasted middle-age!

(No One Lives Forever,  for those unaware)

Yes, absolute classics. I wish some gaming studio does a NOLF 3 or remasters the first two.

Has anyone mentioned the Doom series yet?

Also, love the Wolfenstein series - the classics as well as the reboots.

Also, the Hitman series.

Crysis, Crysis 2, Crysis 3

etc. etc.

A Plague Tale Innocence is now free at the Epic Games store from August 5, 8 AM PTD/ 5 PM BST until August 12, same time, if anyone is interested. Or maybe just curious about what else Asobo is up to.

Got Doom 2016 for a couple of quid... first since Doom 3 for me.  Wow. Fantastic stuff, i just don't have the reactions for that pace of gaming anymore 😁

Downloaded a Doom 3 Full VR mod the other day. As it's a slower paced game i think it going to be great in VR. Must get that set up...

Interesting.  I wonder why it's free?

Epic does free games all the time, and this particular games sequel is about to be released. Plus I'm pretty sure epic must have paid a pretty penny for the right to release it for free and in order to attract people to its store.

Funny, just grabbed that before you posted!

I imagine it'll just sit in the Epic Games library doing nothing like all the other free games they keep dishing out.  Got a huge collection from epic now. GTA V is the only one I actually installed.
