Orbx Alaska Mesh released

I just bought it and am loading up MSFS.  Will fly around Ketchikan and see if I notice a difference.  I can already say the NZ mesh was worth it and I could see a difference.

For me the biggest difference in NZ was skimming the ridge tops, the profile of mountains on the horizon and the way a lot of little bush strips suddenly acquired "interesting" terrain on the approach.  However a lot of people claimed there was "no difference" and got somewhat angry about it, so clearly it depends on the individual.

Well flew around Ketchikan.  It definitely adds more detail to the shadows when the sun is down low.

I'll Buy it.  It's inexpensive.  Alaska needs alot of LUV.

Cheers

Don't know why he spent so much time flying over snow in the 2nd video.

Is flight sim snow the same depth all over everywhere? No dumping a drift on the leeward side of a ridge or on the driveway in front of my garage door?

Does Orbx still offer the 20% discount to old people?

With FSX and P3D you were almost guaranteed to CTD flying into PAJN and PAKT even with 3rd party scenery.

Much better now.  It's all about the data.

Does this fix actually texture/satellite imagery in the area?  One of my fave areas in P3D/FSX was around Yakutat but in MSFS the area looked really ordinary with clear seams in the scenery killing all sense of immersion so I stopped flying there all together.  The ORBX Alaska product on P3D fixed that so I wonder if this one will also improve on that?

No. It only upgrades the mesh.

Thx, figured as much since, looking at that video though I have to agree with the consensus that the differences are barely noticeable.   It doesn't actually fix the issue I personally have with Alaska's scenery,  flying over seams in the scenery is a lot more of a problem to me than the resolution of the peaks and troughs in the landscape, clearly not for me.

Hmmm, well that's a bit of a disappointment. I personally don't see a difference. I was looking forward to this one too.

Wow, the NZ mesh made a big difference and Alaska Mesh is up to twice the resolution - less LOD popping too.

The changes are subtle yes, but add up to a much better looking landscape.

Speaking of meshes, Hawaii could sure use the same treatment.

I swore off flying in Hawaii until it gets a world update.    I don't want to ruin the experience.
