I've finally got to installing and I agree on both points. With the new setting on Ultra cache my panning is smooth and fps are 20-30 in photogrammetry areas.... September 8, 20214 yr Update went great. But it is tedious, had to open the XBox app for the Update to show in the Store. WHY????? I don't own an XBox and will never do.... Why do I have to jump through 4 hoops to update MSFS? XBox App Windows Store In game update Content Manager/Marketplace Who ever designed this update procedure needs a sensible talking to... 'User friendly' nah, totally overrated! Most of what is said on the Internet may be the same thing they shovel on the regular basis at the local barn.

I agree with the update process, but don't get too hung up on the XBOX name. Just look at it as a brand name for all game related stuff from Microsoft - independent of platform. // 5800X3D // RTX 3090 // 64GB RAM // HP REVERB G2 //
September 8, 20214 yr I was one of those complaining and nagging about the pop-in scenery after SU5. It was a real issue even though some people claimed they never even saw it. So thanks Microsoft, Asobo and Blackshark AI for fixing it. Not only did you fix it, you improved the whole experience. Somehow you managed to retain the performance improvements from SU5 and fixing it with Pre-Cache, you then improved both the visual fidelity and smoothness! Thank you. 😃 Now I find myself flying over some place, and after I've passed it, I look back (using TrackIR) to check if it's still there, and it is. No pop in, no loading buildings or trees. It's just there. And it's completely smooth. The immersion improvement is so good. Image removed as image is no longer available.
September 8, 20214 yr Had so far a couple of short IFR flights with no problems at all, smooth as silk Stable FPS at 45 only a small decrease 2-3 FPS while panning the camera especially in showcase camera Supper excited. Great job guys at Asobo, thank you

When I set pre casching to Ultra, I get noticeably better performance than on any other setting! I did a circuit around LAX with real-time AI, multiplayer, a full (and LONG) flight plan and every other setting pretty much on Ultra. I managed to hold right around 40 to 50 FPS except on approach where I dipped back down into the mid to high 30s. Pretty incredible! I'm genuinely shocked at how good the performance is. I already had trouble with stuff purchased or tried to have purchased in the MS store long before MSFS came out. Thanks heaven I made a clear cut and switched to Steam early on after the Store version drove me nuts with the initial installation already. No issues with updates ever, including the present one (up to one where I (and many others) had to restart a few times because of hangups at a few files, but this was an exception.) Initially, I was determined to show loyality to their system, but not at the price of continuous hassle. September 8, 20214 yr I had FSX on Steam too. Steam is now gigantic because everything is easy to accomplish for everyone. Maybe MS should bring back Bob to their store to help people find things there. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Of course, SU5 was a huge step in the right direction, but we really needed this update to truly deliver on the potential that SU5 was teasing us with. Now that the sim runs great for most, and looks just as good, the team at Asobo can focus on the nagging little issues that are pretty much everywhere. I just don't think we were going to get there until we got to the point we are at today. I am not suggesting the hard work is behind the team, but I believe the resources that have been allocated to get this project in decent shape can now be utilized to fix so many other previously "lower priority" issues that have been on the back burner for the past year. Realistically, I think the team needs another year to really iron this sim out, but at least now most of us can enjoy this sim at a decent level. And we can see the true potential of this platform, which is ground breaking in so many ways. Today was a huge step forward imo. Don't get so excited. World Updates have never been a problem, it's the SU updates that have taken the sim three steps back. When the next couple of SU comes out and they don't break things then I'd say we're over the hump. Also forced updates need to go away.
