September 23, 20214 yr I guess to most simmers (me included these are trivial issues). MSFS will cater to the masses who world update or new things to do (Reno Races). People may complain but if you spent millions over 4 years to build this game you would not be focusing on the niche users either. I am sure they will fix these in time. They fixed a lot of things since release. I think they are on the right track.

I am becoming frustrated with MSFS, they spoiled P3d for me (eye candy) but the core aspect of simulated flight within MSFS seems to have been forgotten since release. Just hope that now xbox is done, they focus on the PC platform and sorting out all the issues/ideas for improvement the community has raised but remain unaddressed. Jorg talks a good talk and the dev engagement on the Q&As are great but action is required, no more sound bites filling the time up with "super cool" lip service 😁 Precisely. It also help finances future changes or features for the overall sim. Yes, they kinda lost focus on the PC platform due to the xbox version but we also had significant performance gain because of the xbox version. So please don't hate on the console, they are as important as the PC community. So please don't hate on the console, they are as important as the PC community. And this is an old story. I've mentioned before, this semi-demonization of the casuals/gamers, etc and the incessant demands for more and more detailed minutiae is something I saw back when sims were everywhere and you could barely walk more than a few steps without tripping over one. Same talk of dumbing-down, go-back-to-your videogames Flightsims are for serious people, we are the true audience etc, etc etc..... And the casuals did exactly that, and took their money with them. POP! went the profits that paid for all that stuff that the button-pushers were demanding, and pop! went the heyday of flightsimming....... We may be ready to repeat that history, but I'm pretty sure Microsoft is not. We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically. If it came across that way I apologise and I agree that its an important part of the overall business plan to recoup the millions its cost so far Yes MSFS got optimised because of Xbox, but mainly so it would fit within a consoles confines (as stated by Asobo), and those "benefits" were passed onto the PC users who quickly realised the gain was at the sacrifice of detail (regression) so a slider was provided to return to pre SU5 visuals at the expense of SU5 performance..... and that nulls some of the original perf gain 😆😆 Sure SU5 is not all about xbox and there are many other goodies in there, I am being flippant above really but the dev Q&A sessions are becoming a bit repetitive for me ( loads of super cool stuff coming but no progress elsewhere) and I wondered that the postponement of the last was simply to let the atmosphere cool down as I think the forum hostility was boiling over a bit after SU5. Anyway its still a great product and the best looking Flightsim we have ever had, we all want it to be the best for our own use and that's going to take time, I am fine with that as long as they fix my items first lol !
September 23, 20214 yr Just for reference, I just took these as an example of my tree distance (ultra) with no changes to the sim at all. To me, it looks ok, and I'm actually satisfied with it. That is what we are dealing with here. When I fly for real, this is what I see too. In fact the 'draw distance' is usually much less than in these pictures. But this is what some people want so, here we are.

At some point floating lights were a topic many people complained about, then they were fixed in some areas, now they‘re back again. Same with excessive lightning, trees, draw distance etc. I know, these things will get (re-)fixed, but the problem is that you never know if they get „re-broken“ again at some point. not only that but when they will (re)fix any of these issues later, they will probably also break the compatibility/stability of addons requiring 3rd party developers to update on their end. But the silly comments from the same people will alway come. Do they not know this was a bug that was fixed and now is back? and needs fixing again. Yer I know, lets not point out anything wrong and sit in a circle happy clapping and praise the great XXX Asobo. How Dare people take screenshot and point problems out..how dare they......burn them at the stake. Get your pitchforks out happy clappers. Becasue there is nothing wrong at all with anything is there! September 23, 20214 yr It seems to me that object draw distance in MSFS is calculated based on observer height above ground rather than distance from observer to object. Two different things. It explains why MSFS night lighting is great below ~2000FT and starts to suck when observer gains altitude.

September 23, 20214 yr Just to reiterate, this bug seems to be a reappearance of one first noted by Bijan (I think?) that depends on latitude. Draw distance at the extremes gets progressively smaller. Edited September 23, 20214 yr by scotchegg i910900k, RTX 3090, 32GB DDR4 RAM, AW3423DW, Ruddy girt big mug of Yorkshire Tea
