For those that purchased it before it was removed after a MSFS SU, how did Aerosoft handle it? Did they refund, leave them out to dry, promise a fix, what? I'm just curious how it was handled.

Probably never, the airlines would throw lawsuits over Microsoft, Aerosoft is too small and poor for them to care.

Well, that's actually not Aerosofts fault. They don't provide the models, but only put new liveries on the default from Asobo, and they have already explained that several times.
