They said they didn't change any of the planes, just the liveries.

Well they could, but probably didn't want to put the man power into it.

be aware that 3rd party content is used in the trailer like MCX and AIC that is not part of Simple Traffic.

I wonder what exactly is "outstanding" in this trailer, sorry to say. That they use obviously in 99% of the cases the default A330 lookalike for AI traffic resulting e.g. in an airport full of Southwest A330 (!!!), JetBlue A330 (!!!) and similar totally ridiculous sights? Honestly, if they would have used the default A320neo instead, it would still be wrong in many cases (e.g. Southwest), but at least the aircraft size would be somehow comparable. Like this, it is not even worth 10$ in my opinion, but then, you mileage may vary...

The music, fade ins and outs, the movement are all blended well. 😲😄😏

Yup - pretty clear what it is and isn't too.

I'd better hope it isn't part of the product. Also curious why you bring this up in a competitor's thread - isn't your product intended to stay freeware?

I'm late to this party but I want to ask a question.   Does the source of information Real-Time Online traffic uses in MSFS now include airline and plane model info that can be tapped into for taking RTOT to the next level?

Seems like ideally RTOT should be aware of which plane belongs to which airline, and you would certainly like ATC to be integrated with that awareness as well.  Is it possible Asobo will do this themselves since they're already part of the way there?  ATC is aware of RTOT now so it doesn't seem like a giant stretch to complete the concept really as the basics are sort of already in place.

Do any of the proposed add-ons operate this way, including integrate with ATC?  That seems critical to me, integration w/ ATC.  I'd be inclined to wait until the feature is complete in terms of the above described basics, versus fill the sim with nice liveries that don't really relate to what is happening in-sim.

Live traffic has had the airline and model information since launch, as long as flightaware has the info the sim will have it. If you have the correct ICAO entries in the aircraft.cfg, that aircraft/livery will be used by the sim on the live traffic.

It happens in the base sim with probably all the aircraft. I've seen 172s, SR22s, Grand Caravans, A320Ns 747-8s and 787-10s all matched to real flights over the last year.

The SDK documentation on the aircraft.cfg file covers the icao entries needed.

But the most important one as far as I can tell is "icao_type_designator", as long as that entry matches flight aware's data, the sim will sub in the aircraft model. For example the A320N's ICAO designator is "A20N". The 747-8's is "B748". This entry is also used for matching models to other pilot's aircraft in multiplayer. If there's no model match, it just loads the closest matching aircraft model with 'icao_generic = 1' in its aircraft.cfg file. The sim will crash if there isn't at least one aircraft with that entry set to 1.

https://www.icao.int/publications/DOC8643/Pages/Search.aspx

For liveries, each livery needs the correct "icao_airline" code for that airline for it to be used.

For ATC audio, it grabs the aircraft model information from the aircraft.cfg like in FSX/P3D, not from flight aware. The callsign is from an internal (and outdated) MSFS database, and is matched via the ICAO airline code.

I don't know about Simple Traffic, but AIG uses the default AI system, so yes it will interact with ATC.

That's great thanks.  I wonder if AIG will include a control to limit traffic such that in busy airports the user can reduce actual numbers of flights displaying.  That could be useful to cut down on go-arounds since real world traffic isn't aware of MSFS user traffic, so there is an artificially higher load than in the RW because of this.  Not critical but might be nice.  Or let the user choose which airlines will be synced with and eliminate others as desired, or something along those line.

Great for me much better then AIG! I like a "real" One Click Installer which finishes in 10 minuters with one click 🤪

Yes I'm thinking the same, I've been trying for days to get AIG up and running, I feel this might be the best outcome.

It must be an age thing, for me anyway? But I just cant get anywhere.

Yes and I don't care if the flightplans are not the real schedules. I just want to see the right airlines at the right aiports.

I am running a flightsimulator not a airline schedule simulator 🤣🤣

I prefer the internal MSFS aircraft models over the AIG ones especially regarding night lightning. So I will go with Simple Traffic and the "real" One Click installer, too.
