As others have said, the SU7 hotfix being tested now, should give us a nice sim for the holidays, then the bug fix SU8. They are separating SU's from WU's in 2022, and a stated priority is improved 'stability'. I think 2022 will be an improvement for sure in these areas. Testing the SU7 hotfix is a potential nice precedent as well. My highest priority right now personally is continued work on improving weather depiction and cloud rendering itself, and these are both areas that need significant improvements. December 5, 20214 yr Lets just tell Asobo to forget it, they have made it too arcade like (whatever that means) and some of us would just prefer for things to always remain the same. These updates are just too much. I would much prefer to wait 6 months (like on other sims) for updates then wonder what actually changed. Specs: 11900K (5ghz), 64GB ram 3600mhz, RTX 3080 ti

Then you'll have people complaining there aren't enough updates. Their current output is fine the way it is, it just needs more testing. Edited December 5, 20214 yr by Tuskin38

December 5, 20214 yr The update frequency is ok to me. Actually I have praised their suport to the sim - they ASOBO - problem is, I believe, the pressure imposed by MS. I believe ASOBO could probably do an even better job if they could work at their pace and have time to dedicate to fixes and updates. Of course MFS is a great platform, with huge potencial, and I keep using it now even better on win 11 . I think the core FDE has it's potential, and the fact that some aircraft feel acceptable, in some cases even better than similar versions released for FSX according to those who fly them for real. I have never flown anything even close to a DC-6, but the PMDG DC-6 feels very well to me, and if I look at rw data on it's performance, I see that a lot of work was put into it's development. Developers probably need further SDK support, and ASOBO needs time to work on that. OTOH the infrastructure MFS relies on must be really EXPENSIVE, so, MS has to make it profitable enough... December 5, 20214 yr It seems to me that four things have been repeatedly cycling since 2019 when ms started the hype campaign. 1. Hype: Jorg makes pronouncements about how groundbreaking this sim, or the next update to it, is going to be, thereby setting expectations at a certain level. 2. The Release: Then follows the realization of the community that many things are now broken and even more things remain broken. 3. The Defense: Some in the community point out that..."this is a ten year project" ..or...It is unrealistic to expect basic features to work "only sixteen months after release" [which, by the way, is actually two and a half years of development.] . Therefore, they say we must lower our expectations. 4. MS realizes, once again, that half the community will always be satisfied with anything they release regardless of how carelessly it has been thrown together so its time for Jorg to do his thing again. I am optimistic since, with each new release, more and more of the community is beginning to see the obvious...that something that lacks the basic features of a flight simulator...is not a flight simulator. I understand why you make this point, but there is such a disparate user base it is probably impossible to meet everybody's expectations. If I had a choice between a 6 monthly bug free update or a bi-monthly update not as robust, I would go for the bi-monthly - its just so exciting to see new features regularly. It's not so exciting to wait for updates for every addon purchased then install and test them every few weeks to find out which no longer work or to discover what is broken in the sim itself this time. It comes from referring to the necessary stability as "stagnation" and thinking that anything new must be better [or more "exciting" because MS/Asobo says it is. I really believe that acceptance of anything new, regardless of quality, simply because it is new, together with the paltry excuses offered on behalf of these developers is slowing the pace of development of a fully usable sim.

You make a valid point. An example of 'something new' is the haze recently introduced. It isn't perfect, yet I would prefer to have it than not. For me it gives me more realism, even though there is a 10sm bug with the feature. After SU6 I had some of my aircraft display new bugs. Again, not ideal, but I just flew something else for the few days it took to patch the aircraft. I'm not sure if three bi-monthly updates, or one six monthly update, would necessarily have a different number of bugs.
