I'm currently using DX11 because DX12 reduces FPS on my system.

DX11 as DX12 crashes VR for me

Pico Neo3 Link VR - Windows 11 64bit, Gigabyte Z590 Aorus Elite Mobo, i7-10700KF CPU, Gigabyte RX 9070 XT OC 16gb (AMD GPU), 32gig Corsair 3600mhz RAM, SSD x2 + M.2 SSD 1tb x1

Saitek X45 HOTAS - Saitek Pro Rudder Pedals - Logitech Flight Yoke - Homemade 3 Button & 8-directional Joystick Box, SNES Controller (used as a Button Box - Additional USB Numpad (used as a Button Box)

DX11 because of VR.

On another note, I don't have any complaints about MSFS's performance it runs as smooth as butter for me on really high settings even in VR.

The smoothest simming I've ever experienced honestly and every update seems to get better as far as performance headroom, and I'm able to increase graphic sliders even further with each SU.

I haven't had to worry about OOMs, stutters ,FPS and CTDs with this new sim and it's really great to be able to enjoy these addon combinations with peace of mind!

DX11 because I haven’t yet seen a reason that I should use DX12.

DX12

I am experiencing many more CTD events in VR (OpenXR/WMR  no SteamVR) than with DX11 - but it is still early days to see if DX12 is the problem.  I turned on DX12 shortly after Steam unexpectly upgraded my Sim to 1.21.18.0 (public beta).

My VR flights are showing much better frame rates (+20% or more) with the public beta/DX12/NIS mod but cannot say which is the cause of the increase.  All I know is that I am pleased.

I was flying DX12 and liked it, Then came the Kodiak 100, which is not DX12 friendly, so I went back to DX11

This brings up an interesting point regarding all the add-ons currently made for DX11...

I wonder how many 3rd Party add-ons made for DX11 could be causing CTD's in DX12?

I got worse performance with dx12 with my old 1080 monitor, but when I got a new 1440 monitor I was having big problems and obly getting half the framerates I was with the 1080 monitor.  As a last resort, I switched to dx12 and my framerates doubled.

This is a complete mystery to me as I am basically using the same settings in both msfs and nvidia.  Whilst I am getting decent framerates now, overall performance is jittery as hell, with stutters and pauses all over the place both with a full community folder and an empty one.

I have a feeling that the lack of vram on the rtx3070 might be playing a part in this.

Previously I was CPU limited but at 1440 I am GPU limited.

System 5600X CPU, RTX3070, 32 GB RAM running msfs from a 1 TB nvme drive and W11 from a SATA SSD

I'm very surprised how lopsided the vote is.

DX12 - It's the future.

DX11 here. I understood that DX12 is only a layer still and no real DX12 functions are enabled yet?
I tried DX12 but got worse performance with the same settings in the sim so I switched back.

Dx12 gives me better performance on win11, with my ryzen 5600 and RTX 3060 ti

Flying gliders since 1980

Flightsimming since 1992

AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)

When MSFS is fully DX12 you will know due 2022 on the road map.
