Went through so much with every update with various things broken but now having to reinstall the whole sim is unbelievable. Luckily, I backed up my community folder.. People would expect the FBW Airbus experimental build to be imperfect. This was an experimental beta build. It's not unexpected for things to not go to plan. They also provided a disclaimer and a guide to avoid it. Such craziness from Asobo.. Currently circumnavigating the world in a mix of Cessna and Piper aircraft. January 14, 20224 yr I don't understand why folk do not use the Addon Linker. It saves you hours of re-downloading and setting up the addons once again. I took part in the Beta, i knew full well that i was ;looking at a likely re-install of the sim, i was happy with that. All and i mean all... of my addons are on a seperate drive, linked to the community folder by the Addon Linker. i can clear my community folder in seconds by simply ticking boxes, or unticking boxes and my community folder empties. I even link the official folder and back it up. (but know what your doing before attempting this) Saving re-installing any Market Place addons. I have over 1tb of addons , and i am making word not allowed sure i dont not need to re-install everyting from scratch. So all i had to download was the Premuim deluxe version, and having a 1gb fibre connection it was re-installed in just an hour and a half. no pain, no snarling.... January 14, 20224 yr It escapes me why those bitten don't make regular backups. Mechanical drives are cheap those days and backups can run in the background. While I wouldn't run them in parallel with the simulator they don't have any negative impact while I do normal work on the machine. This applies even more as MS mentioned the possibility of data loss in advance. Left the flight several days early, as suggested. MSFS wanted to reinstall something like 150gb of files, essentially a full reinstall. Pointed it to the relocated download folder, and after checking the files MSFS had me up and running in minutes. It can be a traumatic process if you miss the steps, but disaster is far from a forgone conclusion, and there actually was ample warning, this time. This is the English I'm not understanding. What the heck does 'Left the Flight' mean???😶 Are they saying close out of FS or a flight you were currently in? Unless your on a constant round the world flight what are we talking about here. Everyone for the most part doesn't leave FS constantly running for weeks.😶 I could understand shut down the sim, go to the XBOX Developer app and close out of the beta, load the sim back up, and get the update. That's what I did and still had an issue. The English is those instructions is confusing to say the least. January 14, 20224 yr I’m not sure why everyone is so surprised. Everyone was warned that participating in the beta could result in this behaviour. While it is unfortunate that a whole install is being wiped, you were warned!

Shouldn't be much of an issue for you once you get past the 'Need Update' loop. Leaving the flight then becomes their term for leaving the beta. Edited January 14, 20224 yr by HiFlyer We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... People are having an issue no matter where their install is located on their machines. In my case I dropped out of the Beta early, got the update, and still had an issue yesterday on top of that my install is not in the default location FS chooses on initial install. I still learned allot from the reinstall so it's not a total loss. There is actually no need to do that either if you want to make your life simpler: Create a folder in which you have and sort all your add-ons (payware and freeware) and use the excellent freeware Addon Linker. Whatever happens to your MSFS will not mean having to re-download or re-install your add-ons, simply click on the links you need, done!
