January 13, 20224 yr i think MS forced the beta emoval. I too, wasn't careful when exiting the beta. Fortunately, I ended up with 2 installations and the fix was a simple deletion. i9-10850K, ASUS TUF GAMING Z490-PLUS (WI-FI), 32GB G.SKILL DDR4-3603 / PC4-28800, GIGABYTE RTX5080 16GB WF OC 3 FAN running 3440x1440
January 13, 20224 yr Also no update today on my side...i also was into the beta and opted out. What was important: Be sure to point to the MAIN MSFS FOLDER. In my case it said i have to download 115 GB (= the whole Sim), then i changed from the DEFAULT FOLDER to my MAIN MSFS FOLDER and the update was ready within 15 minutes. January 13, 20224 yr It was clearly stated by MS/Asobo that if you opted in beta and had the community folder in its default path, then you might end up installing the whole sim. I opted in the beta however in my case during the initial install, I decided to select an alternative path for my community folder, so this beta in-out process did not affect my installation in anyway. I stood my ground, and figured I would wait until the beta was officially released, and it turned out to be a great decision.

Well, although I salute your wisdom, the point is, these install problems, whether you are on the beta or not, just shouldn't be happening. There can be a tendency to blame the victim, but in the case of the install and update process, whether it is for a beta or 'normal' update, the fault lies with just one party, and it just rumbles on and on - it's slack. Seems to have something to do with installing the beta update. There was apparently a warning that a lot of us did not get. The servers are really going to be caned tonight and I'm going to have to spend weeks resetting everything and rebuilding my community folder. Thanks Microsoft ! I read you supposed to be out before 1/13, or they would automatically remove beta? Maybe you cut it too close...
January 13, 20224 yr Yea let's not do the whole" it's your own fault nah nah na boo boo I told you so" to our beta testers. They were willing and helpful testing and getting that patch out as guinea pigs for the rest of us to enjoy. Sorry for the issues and THANK YOU for volunteering to beta test. January 13, 20224 yr I was into the beta and opted out with Steam, very easy to do, and I haven't had any problems at all, is this a specific problem that only happens with MS Store version (as usual)? January 13, 20224 yr I was thinking I was a bit paranoid putting all my community files else where with addon linker and disabling the links to them during updates, but seems like it is a actually good idea after all. Edited January 13, 20224 yr by Glenn Fitzpatrick
January 14, 20224 yr This is completely utterly ridiculous. Not only can I not fly tonight, now I have to go back to using a broken TrackIR. I'm done with this garbage, I'm going back to P3D.

January 14, 20224 yr MS responded to this on the official forums effectively saying 'you were warned'. They "carefully" told us 3 separate times that this was a real possibility, however none of those prefaced the final release. Really awful roll out (again big surprise). Pretty disappointing they have and are not improving these installs, especially with all of our collective 'beta testing' help for free.... SAR Pilot. Flight Sim'ing since the beginning.
