January 18, 20224 yr I wouldn't mind paying for flightsim.to, and actually I already donated to them. But those subscriptions stack up and one fine day to an amount higher than my income. I suppose it's time to leave planet Earth this day. Look at all the members that don't even donate to Avsim and some have been members for a decade or more. I just killed Lincoln! I've been a member of avsim for close to 20 years and haven't donated!
January 19, 20224 yr What I do not like about Flightsim.to is they make their free uploads exclusive to them. Freeware should be that. Other sites cannot get author permission to host their files. At that point i consider Freeware stops being such. Harry Woodrow
January 19, 20224 yr This digital age will never cease to be surprising: Problem: "To have to wait fifteen seconds to download a piece of freeware is too long, especially if my screen is populated with ads paying for the free service I receive". Solution: "I demand a premium service with no ad and no waiting time (i.e. 15 seconds...) and a price to pay! " Some may think there is decidedly no limit to human vacuity in this (rich) world. I would reconsider a bigger amount when Avsim in return offered ad free browsing (like Simbrief did at least prior to the Navigraph takeover). However, I am not a friend of subscriptions. FWIW I see an increased amount of ads and especially annoying pop up ads filling the screen when especially browsing avsim on my mobile phone Edited January 19, 20224 yr by DAD Phil Leaven i5 10600KF, 32 GB 3200 RAM, ASUS 4070 12GB EVO, Asus ROG Z490-H, 2 WD Black NVME for each Win11 (500GB) and MSFS (1TB), Rolling Cache 16GB, Photogrammetry always OFF, Live Weather and Live Traffic always ON, Res 2560x1440 on 27"

January 19, 20224 yr Ummm... Did anyone go read the full notice? Seems a lot of people missed this: Lightning-Fast Downloads for Everyone: We know your time is valuable. From now on, all your downloads larger than 50 MB will be routed through a global CDN featuring a 70 Tbps+ backbone and lightning-fasts download speeds worldwide. For free! So, the proposed "Premium" service will give you a no ads and no countdown experience. Download throttling will not be a part of the free service. Seems reasonable to me. ...jim ASUS Prime Z790-E, Intel i9 13900K, 32Gb DDR5 Ram, Nvidia 3090 24Gb, Samsung 970 EVO Plus 500 GB and 1 TB, Samsung Odyssey G9 Ultrawide 49" G-SYNC Monitor.

I bet there were not many people that did that, some making 6 figures. I actually started donating a while ago, starting small but with the intention of ramping up to about $100 a month which even one of the mods told me was insane. Suddenly I was getting some warnings that I considered bizarre, and some equally interesting back and forth regarding same (the only time that's ever happened either before or since) and probably not surprisingly that put a serious dent in my initial intentions.
