Sim Update 8 is out now, go get it

Featured Replies

Update went smooth, as always. But be aware, there are another 5.6GB to download via Content Manager, depending on the version and planes you have installed, this might vary.

Also, for those with the Community and Store folders installed to other than default location ( MS Store or DVD versions ), when MFS starts the first time after XBox pushed the 500+ MB update, it'll probablky ask for a huge update because it is pointing to the default location of these folders which, in your case, are empty.

Simply click over the path window and navigate to the folder where your Community and Store folders are actually located. Then and in my case I couldn't even tell ot pushed any files, and simply went ahead into the Main sim screen.

First flight in the ASOBO Extra went flawless ! Smooth as it was in the SU 8 Beta. Next I will test with the FBW A320.

EDIT : Full FBW A320 flight from LPFR to LPPT - Wonderful !

I had to redefine the throttle detents and the aircraft views, other than that everything smooth as silk !

My FS20 is installed in the default position on the main disk.

Move the folder containing Community and Official (the folder you have to actively choose before the big 100GB download) to a custom location. That usually prevents all re-installing. You even can de-install and re-install the program then, without having to download all this stuff again.

Ans really, this was widely discussed regarding this Beta and the earlier one. But it is a good safety measure in any case.

Doing the reinstall and using g your saved folder ensures you have the latest build.

Yeah, just cut and paste that folder to a new location. If you 'copy and paste' instead of 'cut and paste' it will take about 100 times longer. In other words you are not moving any files nor any folder on the drive, only changing the path of the folder when you 'cut and paste' the whole folder to a new location. Such as to c:/ (the root). You will not have to go get a cup of coffee, it will be done before you walk to the kitchen.

Yes, there is a map, but it is blank. Go to Marketplace and click on the airports tab on top and you will see the map.

Ah, I see it now. I foolishly thought I'd see it by clicking on "World", but that would have been too logical, wouldn't it?🤨

So, going back to:

Has anyone checked the new map feature of the marketplace? It doesn't work for me. Filtering or clicking on airports e.g. has no effect.

Same for me, nothing shows on the marketplace airports map.

It works for me. I an filter what I want and the map updates accordingly. Clicking on an airport  allows me to go to the page to purchase it.

You're probably using DX12. People are reporting on the official forum that it works only when using DX12.

I'm on Win11, so yes I am running DX12 in Windows, although I still have the sim set to DX11. Not sure if that makes a difference in this case.🤔

Everything went smooth here as well,

Actually the last few updates have been ok. Just taking the FBW A32 (Experimental) on a hop from EGPK - LEIB. Dawn departure over the Scottish highlands is just spectacular. Man I absolutely love this sim. It just keeps getting better and better and so do the community addons.

In my happy place right now lol

Blue skies to all 🙂

it asked to download around 117 GB !!!

I was already aware that it happened because it was pointing to the default folder, which is void since I have the Community and Store folders on another partition / disk, so, simply clicked the path string and updated it with the location of these folders in my install.

same here, could avoid a full download by pointing to my custom MSFS folder but that install path caused me some seconds of confusion until I found that I can click on the proposed path string to change it
