March 12, 20224 yr Tomorrow morning Betty and I are off on a five week trip to visit her family in Italy. I can hardly wait. The pasta. The wine. And most of all Mama Caruso's pizza. My mother-in-law is 97 years old now. She still lives alone. She still drives a car. She does her own shopping. And she makes the best pizza in the world. Mama was born in Napoli. And from a small child she learned the art of making the finest pizza. I just wish I could bring back a few slices to share with all of you. But I'll be thinking of you... as I raise my glass and say again...life is good. The abundance of fruits and vegetables and the minimal quantity of meat, and moderate consumption of wine is a beneficial diet we should all be following according the research.

March 12, 20224 yr Hope it is an incredible trip Doug but how dare you not include flight details, airline, aircraft type, NAT's they are using and what seats you selected. Are you a window or aisle guy? I mean this is a "flight" sim site and you are taking a flight without sharing any details? Come on... 😉 Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk

But I'll be thinking of you... as I raise my glass and say again...life is good. My wife and I visited Italy several times. One trip included a cruise from Venice to Corfu, then on to Sicily (where we got to the top of Mt Etna via cablecar), then on to Capri, Sorrento, Sardinia, and finally Rome. I have tasted pizza in every one of those Italian regions. Pizza is so very different from New York pizza or any American pizza. It is so delicious, with fresh ingredients and usually the size of a dinner plate. Sicily, in my opinion, had the very best pizza for my tastes, although it was all spectacular everywhere in Italy. Have a wonderful time in Italy, and enjoy Mama Caruso's pizza. I only wish you could send me a slice! Stan
March 13, 20224 yr Moderator The last time I was in Italy was back in 1993 when I traveled with the Corpus Christi Cathedral Chorale on our European tour. Many of the Chorale members were Hispanic. I was amused to hear some of them grumbling about "pasta, pasta, pasta with every meal!" I gently chided them that back home in South Texas that it was "tacos, tacos, and tortillas with every meal!" Starch is starch no matter the source. Fr. Bill AOPA Member: 07141481 AARP Member: 3209010556 Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
