I am quite sure he said that in a couple of post months ago, I guess we will see during release Edit : I found Rob post from January 17th, sound like we won't get expansion packages https://forum.pmdg.com/forum/main-forum/general-discussion-news-and-announcements/158060-17jan22-hot-or-cold-take-your-pick-then-go-take-your-pic Edited May 7, 20224 yr by bendead

Randazzo was asked if the PMDG 737 would cost more than $100 USD in the fall of last year and Randazzo said people would be presently surprised by the price: Quote John- I think you will be pleased with the re-think of pricing. The development of a product line for MSFS has given us a rare chance to re-think many established processes. More to come on that topic at a later date. - RSR The thing is, none of that means anything. "I think you will be pleased with the rethink of pricing" tells you nothing at all, especially since it isn't sold as a base plus expansion like before. What I think would make most of us pleased is if we can purchase all the variants at a similar price to what we could purchase the whole deal for in previous sims, or less would make us really happy. I have a feeling we won't be happy, and we'll have arguments here about how buying one variant is cheaper than the whole mess before and that's what makes it cheaper, and 'why would anybody fly anything other than the 800 anyway' yada yada. What I expect: (I have no actual knowledge, to be fair) each variant will sell between 60-90 dollars. We will be able to not buy variants we don't want. since the product launch is staggered, we will be buying the variants at different times which alleviates having to spend it all at once. the last two points will make it seem to some that it's cheaper, but it won't be, unless you really only do want one or 2 variants. It's not like this isn't at least an improvement if it happens like that, and I get the sense that PMDG did significant work getting the bird into the new sim, unlike SOME of the PMDG updates I had to pay for in previous sims, so it's OK... but I'll remain skeptical that we will be pleasantly surprised by the pricing.

An expansion pricing scheme means you “must” buy a “base” product (ie. 737-700) before you get a reduced “expansion” price (ie. 737-800). The net effect is you are forced to buy the -700 even if you only want a -800. A discounted scheme means you can buy any variant you want, and any subsequent variant will be at a reduced price. I get what you meant, but at the moment we have no motion of Rob about a discounted scheme, not even an allusion. Answer most likely on Monday
May 7, 20224 yr Yea, we will have to wait and see but I do wonder if they will price each variant at exactly the same price. The 600 in particular does not have a cargo or BBJ model and it is not very popular -- less than 50 made I believe. So it is hard to see how many people will shell out the same amount of money for that variant as the -800. MSFS 2024. But I have to believe they won't play any silly games with customers by rigging the pricing. It would just come back to bite them and they know it. It would just come back to bite them and they know it. How would it come back to bite them? What PMDG knows, from long experience, is that they can set the pricing to literally any level they want, and simmers will lap it up. and they will get bad comments, sure, but the bad commenters will get shouted down. Trust me, I'm one of them. seen this movie before. And they don't really look at any criticism anyway unless it's on their forum, and that is even friendlier ground for them to stand on. go ahead, go over there and say something mildly critical, should be fun. Don't forget to sign your full name on the post. But I'm still here, and still buying it so... guess they're right. Edited May 7, 20224 yr by ShawnG

May 7, 20224 yr It’s funny that RSR says they will let the product speak for themselves yet all he keeps doing is marketing it to us. A little here, a little there. A snippet, a pic, a video. I’m sure it will be as good as he says. Now hopefully they will grow a pair with the msfs spoils and bring the JS-41 over to us.
