Fenix and performance

The aircraft for me on a slightly lesser system is surprisingly smooth and I also get in the 30 FPS area.  BUT..the big issue I am having is the performance of the displays (PFD/ND).  I can have a very smooth overall experience but the displays are an absolute mess and appear to be running at 1-2 FPS...even 0 FPS at times. This is of course most apparent on climb out and descent when your altitude is changing.  You will not notice it sitting still on the ground. Unless I can find a solution ( I have tried all of the rendering options) the aircraft will likely be headed for the hangar as the FBW and PMDG have super-smooth display rendering.

That's kind of a deal killer, having the displays not being able to keep up... Ouch.

No, I just enabled it in BIOS and it worked.

Ah okay, guess mine is busted then.

Safe to say that's a bug or problem with his setup specifically.

Yes.  That would be very helpful!

Free for an hour? I can’t think of a worse marketing strategy for this product.

Think of it, every flight sim forum would be full of

“I spawned on the runway and couldn’t start the engines. Boo hoo!”

For those struggling with performance I would try disabling game mode. There's a lot going on outside of the sim.

Switched render to GPU, almost doubled my FPS. Also changed displays from quality to balanced.

Now it's just as good as any other addon smoothness and fps-wise.

Any chance we can see screenshots comparing quality and balanced ?

Could someone please take a stab at it and tell me how they think my computer would handle the FENIX?

Thanks.

How does your system run with the FBW A320? I am told if you can run this without issues then the Fenix should not be any problem.

My rig is not too dissimilar and I can run the FBW & B787HD with a solid 30fps at full 4K with pretty decent settings, (I lock in NVCP and turn VSYNC on) One of the key areas for improvement seems to be using your onboard gpu to render just the displays.

I'll fire it up and post some in a bit.

my solution was to go for balanced and actually click "apply"...

I have an ageing i7 4790k, 1070 and 16GB running at 1080P.  The PMDG 737 on my system runs really great, I do run PG off because I'm defo CPU limited and I have a mixture of low med high settings.  However my current setup gives me a good solid 30FPS in most scenarios, maybe dipping into mid 25s coming into heavy scenery like JFK for example.

On the fence about buying the Fenix if the frames are going to be in the teens....

Interesting. I have the same system, except 32 GB RAM. I am able to run MSFS at 4K and locked frame rate of 30, with almost everything set to “high” except clouds, which I run at ultra. It works fine with the CRJ, PMDG 737 and Leonardo Maddog. It is a highly optimized system, and dedicated to just flight sim - I don’t use it for anything else.

I just installed the Fenix this morning, and haven’t had a chance to actually fly it. I did enable the CPU’s integrated Intel GPU and set the Fenix to use that for displays. From what I could tell panning around the cockpit, the Airbus definitely puts more of a load on the system than any of my other MSFS add-on in my hangar, but until I actually fly it, I won’t know how much.

I did order a 12900K / 3080Ti system today which will take about 2 weeks to be delivered. It’s something I’ve been meaning to do anyway, but the Fenix has spurred me to finally pull the trigger.

Process Lasso is your friend,

Fenix works really well with tuned 9700K…

I really need to try this.  Would you please steer me towards a tutorial?  Thank you!

Where is the setting for "game mode"? Is this somewhere in Windows settings?

Thank you everyone.  I don't even have MSFS yet.  Still holding off.  Kinda waiting for the PMDG 747 & 777 before moving over.  I was just asking in preparation.
