It seems I will skip this one. I just watched 737NG Driver's video and the take off for Anchorage looked terribly jittery. Maybe an Achilles heal for MSFS is the ability of developers to optimize airports to run well. This to me should be the first consideration -- there is no point having a really nicely modeled airport, inside and out, if you cannot have a stutter free, smooth approach, landing and taxi. I hope this does not become a trend.

Never judge performance by a live stream video. Stutters could be in the stream only, as it often happens. Did he say anything about performance?

EDIT: I just watched that part and yes, it was awfully stuttering, to the point he would have been unable to control the aircraft - and he didn't even mention it with a single word. I'd think this was only in the video and hardly noticeable in the actual sim. You can always wait for more reviews before deciding on it.

EDITEDIT: Here's another one in the Maddog, approach and landing seemed perfectly smooth to me:

Yes, it is possible it was only this video but strange right at that point. The other video looked fine and with the Mad Dog which I do not have but understand is heavier on frames than the PMDG birds. I am going to keep my eye on it because I generally fly United and the Newark Hub would be ideal. But I do not want to spend the money on an airport I cannot use right now. Hopefully more people will chime in.

Sure, there'll be enough videos out with it over the holidays for you to judge.

For what its worth, airport interiors don't account for that much of a hit.  If you're stuttering that hard then I'd be willing to bet your TLOD is set to higher than 100 and your cars and boats are high also.  You can take those down to about 10 and still have a ton of cars.  Those 2 alone will reduce stuttering and increase frames dramatically.  Also, PG cities are unoptimized. That will account for some performance hit as well.

Now there may still be room for some optimization, but you shouldn't have a slide show by any means unless maybe your system is just that far down the scale to begin with.

Those with the P3D style 'predicable' stutter like what Chewy had a while back when on short final is likely due to something else entirely.  Maybe something outside the sim unless you just have some setting way out of whack.

Thanks, this advice definitely made my NYC departure (albeit from LGA) much much better in terms of stutters.  I’ll use this setting for big city/airliner flying and dial up LOD for GA flying.

Looks like @Jeff Nielsen nailed it. Checked out my car and boat settings and they were all at 50. Lowering them all down to 25 stopped the horrid performance on the ground. I'll try a flight with the lower LOD and the lowered car and boat settings.

For now, please check your car and boat settings if you are having isssues

Wow okay, I knew cars killed performance on P3D but thought it had almost no impact on MSFS. Will try to lower all down to 20 and see how it goes.

That's what I did too lol makes a difference. my lod was at 100 so I didn't get a big hit like others with 200 lod 30-45 fps with my current 12700k and gtx 2080TI

I am going to buy it, nice to here some positive thoughts

With my specs, I reduced boats and vehicles from 50 to 10, dropped the terrain LOD from 300 to 200 and (not sure if this did anything or not) also went from DX11 to DX12 and flew the Fenix out of EWR with full live PSTX traffic.  I experienced only one stutter and that was turning onto 4L.  Other than that it was way smoother than my first experiences with that airport.

coming in on runway 4l ils approach, from KIAD,TLOD took down to 150, cars down to 25%,flying with PMDG 737-600, frames down in low 20's.

A real thank u to Jeff Nielsen. by the way my frames locked at 30, performance - even though had lower frames, my flight coming in on 4l approach was vey very SMOOTH

Bottom line, airport is Gorgeous,  I think most of us would have to do a bit of tweaking,

Would I buy it ?  Airport is not for everybody, if u want to cut down on a few settings, then, this airport is a DEFENITE BUY!! Go get it, cause I was hanging on the fence for the last 2 days.

Thank you for that!!

Just to nitpick but although there is an ILS on 4L the real airport operations typically dictate landing on 4R/22L and takeoff from 4L/22R.

10/29 is used on crosswind days and 22 has an incredible approach over the turnpike...

I need to get AI traffic to somehow follow that pattern too....

Use RealTraffic and PSXT if you would like to see actual LIVE traffic, and yes everyone will be 3.5 NM in trail right over/inside TEB. And follow the stadium visual 29 as well whenever it’s in use.

Yes, there is a RL 4L ILS.

Saw a UAL 737 land on it yesterday.

I have a good amount of traffic using AIG traffic controller. Just do not like all the generic repaints or incorrect paints I still see... At least the airport is nice!
