Honestly, stop that tired old "Paid shills" and "It's the <competitor product users>" that are somehow responsible for any negativity and criticism. It just comes off as super insecure.

I'd really like to see a cold & dark startup, taxi, departure, flight, approach, and landing. All while panning around the views so we can check out the new and improved XP-12. I don't want/need to see the UI at this point.
Any plane will do, but the Baron would be nice.
Live weather (and lots of it) and elevation changes (such as mountainous/canyon terrain,) showing off the improvements would also be a plus.

I was curious to compare XP 12 and MSFS side by side so I threw together a very quickly made split screen video. The video didn't render great but it still shows a good side by side comparison. I also compare the audio of the two sims for good measure. Of course XP 12 is in early access and can't be fully compared but at the end of the day it is for sale to the general public and I think worth comparing even in it's early state. This is not meant to start any trouble. I think both sims have advantages. I will say that the Piper Cub in XP 12 is more of a challenge to handle than in MSFS as you can see in my very poor takeoff 😂

Firstly you have installed an addon in MSFS to show pylons/wires that are not there by default.  Secondly you should maybe check your sensitivity settings for pitch in XP12.

X-Plane 11 has the exact same pylons using OpenStreetMap. This is just a freeware addon in MSFS that I completely forgot would show in the video. I hardly put XP 12 at an unfair disadvantage by the inclusion of a couple of freeware pylons! Look at my posts, I see pros and cons of both sims. The road traffic in XP 12 is clearly far superior for example. And you can even see a train in one part of the clip.

Are the pylons/wires in default MSFS?

Good:

  • Lighting (gorgeous!)
  • Weather (love the clouds and weather systems!)
  • Performance (better FPS than expected)
  • Rain effects (at almost zero FPS cost)
  • Flight dynamics (well, it's X-Plane)

Bad:

  • AI (behavior unchanged from XP11, still doing random things under overbearing ATC instructions)
  • Default scenery (hoping for updates in terms of roads, land usage data and regional objects)
  • Plugins still flicker on my AMD GPU (I thought this was a thing of the past with Vulkan and Zink)

I just edited my post before you replied. Clearly they are not, they were included accidentally as freeware, but it hardly makes an enormous difference to the overall impression. Why the nitpicking over one very small thing? Are you going to tell me next that the wave heights don't match? I am actually defending XP 12.

Pylons/wires are one of the important ground features for VFR navigation.  MSFS doesn't have this feature so to show it in a comparison video isn't fair to XP12.  I don't think it is a fair comparison anyway, considering XP12 is in its first couple of days in a pre-release beta stage.

I wish people would stop talking about this being 'pre-release.' It literally has been released to the general public and is a full priced product.

If the definition of 'pre-release beta' is that it's being constantly developed and improved with new features, then MSFS is still in a pre-release beta stage. 

There are a few folks who will defend xplane like it’s their child. Don’t seem to be able to take criticism.

Do you realize this concept isn't new, right?. Charging full price for Early Access is something that has been going on for a long, long time in the gaming industry.

Not if you're in a helicopter. The entire flight might be 1,000 ft. AGL or less. 

I had already resigned myself to what the ground textures and autogen would look like in XP12. My main interest will be to see whether it's still worth using for the quality of helicopter flight modeling, and what improvements are in the weather engine. 

Weather modeling has ben a major weak point in the past with this sim, and I haven't had time yet to explore to what extent that has improved.
