I wonder what projects WT are considering for the future ?

Surely not everybody was kung fu fighting.

https://rationalwiki.org

look at how much they're willing to pay! Small indicator that MSFS is indeed getting really good cash flow.

5800X3D. 32 GB RAM. 1TB SATA SSD. 3TB HDD. RX  9070XT.

The guys who make flight sim great again. TODO projects (hopefully):

-Working G1000-5000, GTN 750, 530 etc
-Default EFB that can be setup in any aircraft and can be extended/modified by devs
-Let the default EFB have online (Vatsim) helper features plus Navigraph integration
-Better World Map flight Planner (visual for all SIDS/STARS, Approaches, airways etc). More info!
-Integrate new World Map flight Planner features into the VFR map
-3D animated copilot framework, based on AI and config (like xAnimCopilot)
-3D animated passengers who can board aircraft and be more animated etc
-Better ground services and animations. Allow for walk arounds and chat to ground crew.
-Overhaul physics and offer new flight model option and better physics and ground handling on touch down!
-Rework the roads, traffic, rail lines and trains.

Another reason why MSFS is pulling away from its competitors. MSFS is continually hiring the best talent in the flight simulator industry, including Working Title, Petrovich from IL 2, iniBuilds, etc.  It's so hard to compete against that.

I think in the past Matt Nischan mentioned here in Avsim that ATC and/or AI Traffic was one of the possibilities? Or maybe I dreamt it?

Crossing fingers for that. There is no good integrated solution for it outside the sim, and WT have for sure the right background in real life aviation + flight sims to approach the problem correctly.

...and there I was thinking that software developers were struggling to pay the bills

These are pretty much bog standard US software developer salaries, truly. 🙂

That's quite an impressive list! If I was speccing that project out, I would probably be asking for about 4 years and around 40-50 personnel, minimum. I think folks have a pretty lopsided impression of how long development work takes, because that's basically almost a whole normal game's worth of development work there 😉 . We have a bunch on our plate already that necessitates more folks: Further NXi work, G3000 refresh, CJ4/PL21 refresh, GNS 430/530 refresh. It would be pretty hard to even get to much on that list even with 10 more people. The GTN750 alone (which is not presently on any roadmap of ours) would be at least a 6-8 month project for 5 people.

But, as always, appreciate folks keeping tabs on us! It's very flattering and humbling.

Given that there is a good quality TDS GTN 750 Xi on the market already,  it makes sense to not consider it for the "roadmap"... 😉

The other Garmins, like the G3X for experimental planes would be better candidates!

Look at the job description. Typescript and CSS is for glas cockpit instruments.

I would always take it even if it came free as part of default MSFS 😀

That's quite some list. I'd prioritize the physics part, but the animated passengers are crazy. 😄

Happy with MSFS 🙂

Lol shots fired!

Xanadu-12 is still very early release, it will definitely be massively improved.  Thankfully so will MSFS.  It's a good time to be a simmer!
