Sim Update 10 launches tomorrow!

The new Nvidia drivers doesn't help me in MSFS beta DX 12. I think with SU10 release version in a few hours + new Nvidia drivers, it will all be golden!

Those clouds still look like volcanic ash to me. Is that what all clouds look like in MSFS?

I am not so sure if the combination of DX12 and the new driver will be like the first throw of Beta SU10.

The thing is, we didn´t test the combo AFTER several BETA update cycles have bin released. Hopefully this works. It will really depend on IF Nvidia did really fix the problems for thousands of users and IF Asobo did NOT make any CodeChange affecting DX12 or/and it´s memory management.

I hope we get what we like to see......but I am not so sure.

Not for me.  They can look smoother also.  I must admit, I don't like the grey cauliflower effect too much either, but I don't actually see it that often.  Mainly they are white / light grey and fluffy.

Asobo have acknowledged that the cloud system needs some work, for high level clouds in particular (cirrus etc.) and they say the cloud generation system is capable when directed in the right way, but as you would expect, they say they expect it to take quite a lot of work.

With this SU10 update, which I believe is generally very good after being in the beta, the Anniversary update coming, with all of those great free aircraft, and the proper start-off with helicopters and gliders, then the Canada world update, it is exciting times for the sim.  Still some way to go of course, but at least it is developing quite well.  Good times!

It was scheduled to arrive in July.

a.k.a software development.

the recent hiccups (gaming.services beta fiasco and Nvidia DX12 driver bugs) were not accounted for and totally beyond Asobo's control.

Absolutely!  I'm so glad XP continues to develop it's great to have a viable alternative to MSFS.  Right now I'm doing everything I want to do as a flight simmer in MSFS:  PMDG 738 w/ my new TCA Boeing Yoke it's a whole new experience for me, at least the pendulum yoke is  and it's taking some serious getting used to but I can tell it will be sweet once I have a few more hours with it and have it calibrated correctly.

If MSFS died tomorrow I'd head straight for XP and resign myself to flying in a smaller world w/ ortho scenery.  Interesting on their clouds it's quite obviously a tough gig to get right within a performance budget.

DLSS and FSR2 may not come to XP 12 for a long time.  Ben Supnick from Laminar Research, said the following about XP 12:

Quote

Why don’t we use FSR2 or DLSS? Both of these upscalers require motion vectors as inputs from the rendering engine, something X-Plane does not provide. We may support them in the future, but adding motion vector generation is not trivial.

So XP 12 doesn't even have motion vectors implemented, which is the basic before even considering DLSS and FSR2.  And when motion vectors is implemented, then LR has to implement DLSS or FSR2.

In that same XP 12 post, Ben Supnick even recommends that some XP 12 users using 4K with blurry textures, reduce their resolution to something lower than 4K:

Quote

One thing that can help (and I know no one wants to hear this) is to run at a lower resolution. The sim has to internally use VRAM proportional to the size of the winddow or monitor res you fly at. Jumping from 1080p to 4K doubles the resolution in each dimension (making each pixel half as big) but uses 4x the VRAM for surfaces. Full screen anti-aliasing increases VRAM by its factor (4x MSAA = 4x VRAM) for some of those textures, so it’s more efficient than higher res.

TBH, I don't know how XP 12 is going to catch up to MSFS in both graphics and performance, especially with the new video showing the performance of DLSS 3 and MSFS.

I take the clouds in MSFS over these clouds any day:

Not to mention even if these weird cloud shapes are fixed, the problem is that the clouds are still very, very blurry in these pictures.

Is it going to be same as before, first small update in Store and then the actual update inside the sim?
