September 30, 20223 yr Hello, if I try to install Canada it tells me: "some dependencies are missing or out of date: " and then a list of basic aircraft (such as the Cessna 172, the Bonanza G36, the A320neo etc. etc.) which I have uninstalled from the simulator because I am not interested in them. Now for the first time a world update asks me to install them again. I don't understand why this dependency has been introduced between the scenery and this pile of aircraft ... Such a pity that they couldn't find better photogrammetry - the whole CBD is a mess. Objects floating in the air, wonky highways going into the city, terrible bridges and the whole harbour area is just... 🤐 I think Vancouver sadly is at the very top of the list when it comes to the worst PG cities in MSFS. EDIT: I'm open for the possibility of a server issue preventing PG from loading properly. If it's not though - I feel sorry on behalf of all simmers from Vancouver 😖 Fortunately there were some good freeware add-ons for Vancouver that fixed the bridges and harbour. I imagine they will need an update to work with this update? Dunno. What’s more interesting to me (and forgive me as I haven’t read through the entire thread) is whether the terrain mesh resolution has improved so the Rockies and all the mountains in BC look more realistic.

September 30, 20223 yr After waiting so long for the Canada update I must say I am disappointed. It was nice to see the greatly expanded photogrammetry coverage in Greater Vancouver until I started to look a little closer and fly around it. I don't expect photogrammetry to look good up close, but it should not look this bad from 1000 feet AGL. Giant trees are also embedded into the sides of some high-rises like some of the older PG cities used to have. Even more disappointing is the loss of about 6 FPS. This causes stutters and a performance drop well below my 30 FPS target on my older system. I now get significantly better performance at KLAX or over Manhattan than over Vancouver. I had to remove the photogrammetry cities portion of the update to get my performance back and, until this new photogrammetry gets reworked, it looks better too - at least in Vancouver. So in the end, I had to uninstall the Canada World Update. This is despite the fact that I was looking forward to this World Update for 2 years now in MSFS and I kept harping about how metro Vancouver needed more photogrammetry. But the photogrammetry was so bad for metro Vancouver, I just couldn't use it. The bridges themselves are very triggering. This is Arthur Liang Bridge by CYVR: This is very triggering when I come into CYVR to land and I see this 🤣. This is what the Arthur Liang Bridge looks like without the Canada World Update: Ah well, maybe wait for the next World Canada Update and let Asobo fix this. I'm pretty supportive of MSFS in general here at Avsim, but I'm gonna call a spade a spade. This Canada World Update was a huge disaster for metro Vancouver😭 i5-12400, RTX 3060 Ti, 32 GB RAM
September 30, 20223 yr After reading through 10 pages here, I have decided not to install WU11 Canada. I have many add-ons especially for BC incl Vancouver Island. Since 3rd party mesh issues are gone with SU10, I can probably live without the WU 11 "improvments" ... I'm wondering why they did not test it properely. Why no short Beta for World Updates too? Are there any official comments in their forum? I checked it earlier this day, but could not find much about the Canada update. - Harry 9800x3D (Strix x870e-E) - 64GB RAM (DDR5 6000, CL 30) - RTX 5090, 34'' 1440p OLED HDR - Windows 11 Pro (1TB M.2) - MSFS 2024 (MS Store, 4TB M.2).

What if you removed the PG Cities via the Content Manager but kept the main WU Canada intact? Does that help/make a difference? I've not installed this WU yet, but after the lacklustre "Ireland" part of the UK & Ireland update and then then hideous Italian WU I'm extremely sceptical about these. I get it they're free, but they should not be exempt from criticism just because they don't cost anything. Unfortunately, I'm not going to install it again to test it out (unless there is some magical surprise and the servers start churning out much higher quality photogrammetry). I suppose there may be a way to just install select scenery from the World Update, by deleting everything else but it would probably be very tedious to do it. September 30, 20223 yr I was just thinking of the old bug with lots of PG Cities that dragged performance down (this is fixed AFAIK), by removing them in the Content Manager. I'll have a look later and see for myself, but alas it appears their Q&A process has failed ...again! September 30, 20223 yr Hi, In view of the elevation errors encountered in Quebec, I thought of the problem that appeared in version 1.12.13.0 in December 2020 and the MappaMundi patch. The latter had isolated DEM data from the previous version and injected them as patches via the Community and this had solved a lot of problems on Quebec. This patch is still available on flightsim.to. https://flightsim.to/file/5167/scenery-glitch-fixes-for-update-1-12-13-0 I just tried it this morning and the river that feeds the Montmorency Falls is back at the right altitude. PS: I haven't had time to check other places. The good photogrammetry for downtown Edmonton and University of Alberta is still there without this Canada World Update. There are just less photogrammetry neighborhoods outside of central Edmonton, which is something I can tolerate. So in a nutshell, if you uninstall this Canada World Update, you get the old Vancouver scenery back where it doesn't look like a war zone, plus you also get the good photogrammetry of downtown Edmonton and University of Alberta. This is a win win for me. i5-12400, RTX 3060 Ti, 32 GB RAM
September 30, 20223 yr Hello fellow Vancouverites or BCers, including @fogboundturtle and @Bert Pieke. Somebody opened a new bug report, to report the bad photogrammetry for Vancouver in this World Update: https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/vancouver-area-looks-terrible-after-wu11/546333. If you can, please go to that thread and upvote this bug issue. Hopefully with enough upvotes, Asobo can make the photogrammetry for Vancouver better with this Canada World Update. i5-12400, RTX 3060 Ti, 32 GB RAM

I find it somewhat baffling that they could release it like this with such obvious defects, both in mesh and PG. What's the point of a WU when in reality it's a downgrade? It does make me a bit worried about what is going on internally in Asobo and/or how much they are pushed my MSFS. 1 hour ago, abrams_tank said: I suppose there may be a way to just install select scenery from the World Update, by deleting everything else but it would probably be very tedious to do it. I still have it installed. I'm guessing a search for "photogrammetry" in content manager then view the package contents of WU11 might reveal something. Not sure if there are any decent freeware PG out there, but the bridges and dock addons by FreakyD look good. 1 hour ago, abrams_tank said: So in a nutshell, if you uninstall this Canada World Update, you get the old Vancouver scenery back where it doesn't look like a war zone So the PG in Vancouver was actually ok before WU11?
