I Have Decided To Buy FS2024

Featured Replies

I think I'll pass this one...

I plan to buy a 8090 in 2026, so I'll wait for FS 2026 and until then will use 2020 for disk cache...

Well, at 74 yo I find it prudent not to plan anything a year ahead 😄 ! Of course its all about money. And this is great.  We give them money, more or less as much as I need to fill my SUV tank fo

I'll buy it. But I'm going to need a new SSD drive if I want to keep 2020 as well while it beds in. (Though I could banish Trainsiim World 3, TW3, RDR2 and Steam to one of my whirling wheel drives I suppose.......Which would free up a 1TB SSD)

Im hoping that AddonLinker will allow for links to be placed in the community folder of each sim from one remote community folder? That'll save a bit of space.

I'm assuming, and it's a big assumption, that Asobo will allow both sims to be installed? Or will 2024 simply overwrite 2020? So many unanswered questions. My guess is that if you upgrade you'll get a discount and it'll wipe 2020. You'll  have to pay full whack to keep 2020.

I've already got one with Windows on it. Can't see any way to plug in another? In fact I can't see where the thing is? Or do they use a standard SATA cable?

What would be only slightly more interesting is hearing from anyone who has decided not to.

Here is one. At least at the moment thinking that way. Why should I?? I'm enjoying my beloved sim 100% and they are developing it all the time. Have not heard a single word, official, that they would stop doing that.

Then you have nothing to worry about! Enjoy what you have.

Fully agree. MSFS2024 reminds me "it's all about money". To me it's like: do you want to improve and solve bugs still present in MSFS2020?, then "go buy MSFS2024".

Bugs in software as complex as XP12 or MSFS will never be completely solved.  Nobody will force you to buy the next product if you feel MSFS is relativly bug free at that stage.

MSFS2024 will have its fair share of bugs to deal with.  If you are an MSFS user, you have already decided the good things outweight the bad, so why the dramatics?  Either stick with MSFS2020 or buy MSFS2024, the choice is yours, but stop stressing about bugs - they have been, and will always be, present.

Oh, we all know youll be buying MSFS2024 🙂

I guess there is news for some people around here that developers tend to release new versions of their software from time to time.

Yes they do. But most give comprehensive information when they announce a new version before, or with, the trailer. All we belatedly got was 'your existing addons might work'.

When Starfield was first announced, they only showed a flyby of a space ship with a planet in the background. This is quite normal. There's hardly ever an info blowout at the start.

On another note, I get the feeling today's developer update is going to cause rage lol.

I dare not look! 😂

EDIT Starfield was announced 25 years ago apparently? Build a base etc... Seems like Total Annihilation but without the amazing music.

I have decided not to read FS2024 threads until after FSExpo.

MS hasn't handled the marketing at all well, yet the conjecture and negativity surrounding something that hasn't had it's full details released yet, is off the scale.
I understand the concerns some people have and I'm not known exactly known for being Mr. Glass Half Full, myself. But wow, I'm done.

Indeed. You would think with all the complaints people have against Asobo and MSFS in general, that the P3D and X-Plane subforums here would be busier... 🤔

s the worst thing I've heard for a long time

But we haven't even heard anything about it outside one trailer.

Remember the 2020 announcement? We knew nothing for months.
