You are so brave and an example to us all!

Well, at 74 yo I find it prudent not to plan anything a year ahead 😄 !

Of course its all about money. And this is great.  We give them money, more or less as much as I need to fill my SUV tank for a couple of weeks (I am a cheapstake, I bought the standard edition)  and  they give us a great toy for four years . A deal made in Heavens if you ask me.

Is FS20 incomplete ? Yes. Am I happy with this ? No. Will they release FS 24 before all the FS20 bugs are squashed ? yes .  Was it any different in former iterations ? No.  Can any simmer point me to a former iteration of our beloved FS or any another sim that has had updates and free contents several times a year before ? Guess not.

I am all for moaning. Within reason though.

Simming since 1981 -  [email protected] GHz with 16 GB of RAM and a 1080 with 8 GB VRAM running a 27" @ 2560*1440 - Windows 10 - Warthog HOTAS - MFG pedals - MSFS Standard version with Steam

I find it fascinating that for an entirely new sim platform there is so much angst and debate about purchasing it.  But for a new PMDG other other payware variant aircraft, everyone seems to pull money out of thin air.

Sorry, don't mean to moan, but I think my concern is justified. 2024 is the worst thing I've heard for a long time.

With so many things that need either mending or improving in MS2020, I fail to see how having another sim that MS and Asobo would be concentrating on can have anything other than a detrimental effect for existing simmers on 2020.

Fully agree. MSFS2024 reminds me "it's all about money". To me it's like: do you want to improve and solve bugs still present in MSFS2020?, then "go buy MSFS2024".

The progress haters are back in town.

Possibly a teensy weensy bit hyperbolic there

Ryzen 9 7900X, Corsair H150 AIO cooler, 64 Gb DDR5, Asus X670E Hero m/b, 3090ti, 13Tb NVMe, 8Tb SSD, 16Tb HD, 55" Philips 4k HDR monitor, EVGA 1600w ps, all in Corsair 7000D airflow case. Sims in use - 2020, 2024, XP-12 and -11, FSX/SE, P3Dv4.5 and v5.4. DCS and AFS2 installed but rarely used

I'll buy it. But I'm going to need a new SSD drive if I want to keep 2020 as well while it beds in. (Though I could banish Trainsiim World 3, TW3, RDR2 and Steam to one of my whirling wheel drives I suppose.......Which would free up a 1TB SSD)

Im hoping that AddonLinker will allow for links to be placed in the community folder of each sim from one remote community folder? That'll save a bit of space.

I'm assuming, and it's a big assumption, that Asobo will allow both sims to be installed? Or will 2024 simply overwrite 2020? So many unanswered questions. My guess is that if you upgrade you'll get a discount and it'll wipe 2020. You'll  have to pay full whack to keep 2020.

Sometimes we do not like change. While 2020 will likely enter support or maintenance mode, Asobo will continue to improve the underlying engine and features in 2024; it is not the end of their development. I am hopefully that 2024 may be able to address some of the more suborn issues that have affected 2020, that even weather may be able to be opened up and historical weather incorporated.

Of course introducing a new version is about money, the platform needs to be invested in and that investment needs to be financed. I personally am quite happy they are working out an approach to raising the money needed to keep developing, and if that means me paying 60 or 80 dollars every 2 to 4 years for an updated version this is the price I pay for them to keep working and enabling me to continue enjoying this hobby.  In my nearly 30 years of this hobby I have never gotten as much value out of a flightsim as 2020, not even close. They worked to keep the platform moving, kept the conversation going, and generated a community of people interested in our hobby and expanding it. Think back to how sterile they hobby had become by 2019. Then look at flightsim.to.

MSFS 2024. Primary Planes: Black Square TBM850, Duke, Baron, Caravan; A2A Comanche; FSReborn Phenom; Fexix A321; PMDG 737-7, 777: Utilities: Active Sky (Passive Mode); BATC, FSLTL.

I have decided to decide that I'd like to decide things. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.

I have to state:

I am going to buy FS2024 and as well FS2028 or FS2032, if it comes...i will also buy the most important addon aircraft, no matter if they release it with an EFB or not.

Why? With the money, my lovely hobby of flightsimming lives on. More addons come. The sim gets better. its my most favorite hobby! I spend countless hours flying virtually around, alone and with friends.

Whats the definition of "hobby": Spend as much money as possible with the smallest possible reasonable benefit!

And i take all my hobbies serious!
