June 21, 20232 yr This looks really great. I love flying in and out of SLC, so this is very welcome. The airport is still under construction for the next several years (in phases, so a good chunk of it is done). I wonder if they're modeling the final product or just what's currently completed?

Do people only talk in ICAO codes now on the forum. I have to look them up every time. The main ones are easy, but are we expected to just know them all? June 22, 20232 yr Wow, this is some amazing work. Looks like they’ve really nailed the exterior and interior details. I’ve never really understood why so much effort is put into airport interior modeling in the sim, but having spent the past 2 months in training at SLC, this is outstanding. I may have to buy this one for sentimental reasons if nothing else. Hopefully it is updated as more of the actual airport construction is completed. Chris
June 22, 20232 yr Cautious optimism for me. That level of detail combined with a lot of a AI traffic that you normally see at KSLC *could* be resource drain on low to mid level systems. I’ll wait for reviews. But it does look great.

I'm comfortable with using ICAO and IATA codes and I'm pretty familiar with both in the areas that I fly (MSFS). But the rest of world including US airports and airfields are mostly a complete mystery so I have to look up either the ICAO or the IATA code....if I can be bothered. So yes, I agree. Posters should refer to the actual airport name and hold the ICAO or IATA code in parenthesis if they really feel it is necessary. That way literally everyone can understand which airport is being discussed. Isn't that a far better form of communication than wrapping everything in a code so that only those who know the code off by heart or have the time and inclination to look it up, can make any sense of it? Of course some IATA codes are iconic and since IATA is predominately supporting airlines (ticketing, aviation security, baggage, fares etc etc) it make sense that millions will be well versed with LAX, JFK, LHR, SIN, CDG, SYD, SFO, HKG, DXB, ORY to name just a few. So using well know IATA codes for short hand is probably OK. But I would suggest the ICAO codes for these famous airports are much less well known even amongst our fraternity!
