Otherwise, that's strange. The file clearly exists... [edit] ...or see @bobcat999's post below. That would make sense as to why the file is not visible. 3 hours ago, Virtual-Chris said: I’d like to try this… Assuming I don’t need to use supersampling… Where do you make the Nvidia DLAA setting? I wonder whether having a fast framerate cap is why you have such blurry details? I'm running 30 FPS locked. (Also, I use 'SecondaryScaling 1.500000' in my UserOpt.cfg file). It's not a panacea, yet it makes flying glass cockpits with DLSS turned on a lot more acceptable for me. July 27, 20232 yr Like I said earlier, these folders are protected in some installations, and you cannot get access to the files very easily without hacking the permissions about as an administrator. Even then, I could see the files, but it wouldn't let me swap them. Changing to the new type of MSFS installation in the Xbox app apparently changes this so it is more accessible. The Xbox app converts over apparently. Basically, the older installations from around the original sale date will have these protections. Newer installs don't. I am talking about the Marketplace installs here, not steam. Edited July 27, 20232 yr by bobcat999 Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind). What keeps me from using either this or DLAA are artifacts in water... DLAA and DLSS both produce a pixelated band that advances with the aircraft when flying on water. I've taken the below screenshot (crop) just now with DLAA: 7800X3D | 2x32 GB DDR5-6000 CL32 | RTX 5080 | Alienware OLED 34" | 1 Gbps fiber
July 27, 20232 yr Author Just a quick heads-up for the .dll swappers: it's not always a straight upgrade and may sometimes yield a worse result in terms of ghosting, blurring and performance. So don't just swap them out, thinking it's a higher version, thus it's better. Some versions work better for some games, sometimes older files work the best with specific titles, certain versions may run better but yield worse visual results etc. so it's a bit of trial and error at times. So it's a good idea to share your results, as I'm not aware of any version that is generally agreed upon as being best for MSFS. July 27, 20232 yr I've just tried the latest 3.3.13 .dll and the ghosting in glass cockpits is still present. It's possibly marginally better than the default .dll but nowhere near usable for me.
July 27, 20232 yr I am sticking with DLSS, and I will try to get my install in a position where I can try the new DLSS 3 files, but in general, I don't notice the ghosting during tape scrolling now (I think I just ignore it or have gotten used to it), and the blurry flat screens are not so bad with a bit of sharpening. The trick is, you have to balance the sharpening amount. You can go in really heavy and the screens really look good, but then when you look out of the window it is enough to give you a migraine headache! So getting the balance right is the key. I tried the secondary sharpening trick in the user config, and it works (I had it on 1.75 I think), but the performance hit was quite bad for me and took me down to TAA levels of performance again. July 27, 20232 yr No matter what i try, TAA offers much better image quality and higher framerates with DX11. I find zero reasons to go DX12 and i am always on the 50-90fps mark with my 13600KF and 3080ti at 1440p / ULTRA settings. To each his own, but quite frankly 13900 CPUs and 4090 video cards, ouch. July 27, 20232 yr DLSS with DLAA and DX12 with everything on Ultra is by far the superior setting on my system. It really is chalk and cheese. In VR i increased the display resolution through the OpenXR kit and then use DLSS to get the FPS required for a smooth image. This requires some experimenting with your own Hardware, but in the end i’ve now got a much clearer and smoother picture in VR, compared to TAA. (and no blurry displays). Take a look at this video, which led me to try it out myself:
