Once I've gone through the complete startup procedures for a plane to get some understanding of what is involved, I then start almost all my flights by loading the plane directly onto the runway with the engines running. Looks like doing that with the TBM850 means skipping close to about 200 checklist steps. Any problem loading directly onto the runway with the TBM850 (I don't have the plane yet)?

Thanks,

Al

No it works fine.  Also it's really easy to startup from cold and dark.  Most of those are visual items that will already be setup if you load on a ramp.

Correct - your checklist is reduced to:

-Remove Yoke

-Turn off Parking Brake

Yep, and maybe a quick check for any failure related issues (via the failure pages on the WX radar) if you have been flying with failures enabled since I suppose the skipped checklist steps might have detected a problem.   I do like Ryan's suggestion above to load onto the Ramp since I would like going through the engine startup procedure and it doesn't take much time.

Does anyone know of when the first update is to be released? I heard something about this week but not sure if that is accurate...

I heard this week too. We shall see, the developer has proven to be quick with foxes and enhancement’s so that is not unreasonable to believe it may.

I prefer TDS because I prefer my avionics to look/function like the real thing.  TDS does come with slightly out of date navdata for now.  Hasn't been an issue for me though.  PMS has some features like crossfill and navigraph support which are nice as well.

Hey Ryan,

I have been having a blast in the 850 and have been looking at the paid options for the GTN750. What is the navdata cycle currently on your TDS 750?

I am curious to see how far behind the current version it is

I want to say it's like late 2022?  Or airac 2212 or something.

Thanks Ryan,

I know they are using a real world database and not a Navigraph database. Does this cause any issues with route planning and missing waypoints/procedures etc?

Is the correct nav source selected?

Is the LOC freq in the NAV radio's active, not standby, position; if using a GPS for the Nav radio, is the GPS in VLOC?

Also from the manual:

NOTE: Both EHSI VOR sources can be used to drive the autopilot. Switching between sources
with the “NAV” or “1 2” push buttons will automatically select the currently selected EHSI source
as the source for autopilot navigation. (Top of manual page 43).

Also see manual pages 26 & 27.

Finally, have you tried different airports? Sometimes the problem can be the airport itself.

Not really.  But I also have FAA charts or navigraph so I just compare the two or worst case, ask for a traditional approach or STAR/SID

Is anybody else experiencing an abrupt weird change in engine sound during flight. I've had it happen during climb out, as well as during normal cruise. Everything will be going as normal with great constant engine sound and then all of a sudden, it's almost like the sound resets. It comes in at a much lower frequency and slowly builds back up. I looked around to see if this had been brought up here, but I didn't see anything in my brief search.
