Quick question.  What year is your Piper M500? Every screenshot I'm seeing of the cockpit has a small digital artificial horizon/compass on the left side of the G1000 on the pilot's side. Just wondering.🍺

Good question, there do not seem to be any backup instruments on the flight deck, is that correct?

There is no additional backup instrument in the current version. Actually you have already a backup and redundancy of three G1000 screens and afaik it is even not mandatory from what I heard to have another fourth one. The default backup instruments wouldn't have had the level for the planes quality and creating a custom instrument was delayed as the other features making the 500 so nice to fly and immersive were rated much more relevant. Though it is on the list for a later enhancement.

Hope that helps.

Here's the problem.  I can't find a real world cockpit of this bird without these gauges (plus it looks like some extra buttons missing on the passenger's side right of the G1000).  If you can find me some real world cockpits without these gauges it would be much appreciated, I'd love to see them.🧐

The cockpit is looking as if it's missing something (especially with the grey glare shield) now that I've search the internet to no avail for a comparable cockpit.

🙃This being said I'm not trying to be adversely critical of this great effort just asking questions hoping if something's missing it will be added in a future update. Nothing perfect upon first release.🍺

Honestly I can just tell you to stop searching for pics of real planes and go have a flight in the sim version instead and enjoy the more relevant features Raul put a lot of love into. As I said it's on the list but with low prio. We have other nice things on the list.

Feel free to head over to the official discord and vote for your wish in the 500-feature-requests thread. Raul will listen and perhaps change priorities.

Sorry I missed the last sentence of your post above, "creating a custom instrument was delayed as the other features making the 500 so nice to fly and immersive were rated much more relevant. Though it is on the list for a later enhancement."

I was working and got distracted from another task and didn't finish reading what you wrote.  You answered my question.  Sorry for being confusing here.👍

I understand a backup instrument is considered low priority, but I do hope it is added; it is shame that an aircraft that strives for such authenticity and quality left out what is a standard, required and important instrument, particularly for someone like me who wants to fail the Garmin units in IMC and struggle to get down to a runway safely.  Except for this, however, it is a lovely aircraft and the two flights I have done so far have been very nice.

Standby instrument is part of FAA certification for G1000 units. But this is FSR500 certified in some unknown country ;););)

I just bought this and wanted to add my appreciation to the comments here.

I can see this is an aircraft that is obviously full of features and technical whizz-bangs that is giving all sorts of warm fuzzy feelings to all the "serious simmers" (tm) here. And that's great.

I bought it because I liked the look of it (in a big nosed sort of way <grin>) and it sounded like it might be fun. What's particularly nice from my pov is that it still lets the likes of me start hot on the runway and I don't actually have to go through the whole realistic start up stuff. I turned off the engine damage and something else I can't now remember on the pad, coaxed the throttle up to what felt like a reasonable level and headed off down the runway. When it got to the sort of speed that felt right - up we went. So I can get of the ground, I managed to get it trimmed so that it was flying level, and that's all I want from any aircraft, whether it be a Cub-alike or a Jumbo.

By comparison, I also spotted the freeware Cessna Dragonfly on flightsim.to. That looked like it might be fun too, but on reading the description it made much play of the fact that ctrl-e was not supported and that I'd have to follow the proper start up procedures to get it going. That to me is just elitist, and a bit silly. If something as apparently sophisticated as this FSR is prepared to let the likes of me on board but a freeware developer feels the need to get that serious then that all feels a bit ar*e upwards.

So, thank you to the guys at FSR. This is a lovely looking aircraft, and who knows, I may even get around to actually learning some of the procedures modelled in to it over time. And in the meantime I can zoom around in it to my heart's content, checking out more of the wonderful world of MSFS, and grab lots of screenies.

Money well spent, and I look forward to the Phenom (which I believe may be coming along sometime in the future)

I'm positive it will fix it, ask me how I know 🤣

Thank you. This indeed fixed it. I was able to buy and download the M500.

Oh I am happy to develop and sell a FAA certified version, but I reckon it would cost around 35,000k + $$$$$ the yearly support fees though 😉

I am very happy you all love the product, reading all your great feedback it warms my heart.

On a serios note, I think there are choices of Aspen, steam gauges or dual  Garmin G5. G5 is already in the sim so it may be easier to put in

Page 11 of the FSR500 manual states that a "Standby flight instrument" is on the list of planned updates.

It also states on page 49: "The FSR500 does not have a standby flight instrument in the V1.0 release, but this will be implemented in a future release."

Given the current stellar quality of the 1.0 release, I'm happy to live without a standby instrument until a patch or two (or three or four) gets released.

Went for a second flight tonight in a much cooler area of the world than KPSP (Southern Ontario) and the climb/cruise performance was much better, was able to climb at 125kts/~1700fpm up to my cruise altitude of 16,000ft.  I noticed that the RPMs were pegged at 2000 tonight whereas my last flight they were lower...maybe that was all because of the high heat levels/ISA?

In any event, really loving this aircraft!

So this has happened to me on different scenarios where I screw something up.

The Cameras are alive and show the outside of the plane.

MSFS will not let me back in. Is this on purpose.I have to restart the sim in order to get back inside the cockpit and fix things
