Here another Catch 22 guy: Asobo made Flight Simulator 2020, but if Flight Simulator doesn't work you can't blame Asobo.

If MSFS itself doesn’t work, of course Asobo is responsible, but they have nothing whatsoever to do with the server infrastructure that delivers the game to end-users. That is 100% on Microsoft.

To avoid the congestion traffic jam, I did not update until just now (I was in the beta so actual download was only about 2.x GB. Took 2 minutes to complete. The files in content manager zipped down just as fast, at over 100mBS.

All the Assistance Options were reset to EASY. Everyone of them! LOL!!!

(Imagine the sweat on the forehead of the guy at Asobo who was the lead man in charge of trying to fix this bug), he he!!

I just updated here in Atlanta at 2230 hours local and it came down in fifteen minutes.  Made three PMDG test flights and all seems well so far.  The only thing I saw that was different was after it updated, the entire time I made a test flight and even back to the MSFS home screen I had the spinning circle arrow thing in the lower right.  Rebooted then it was fine.

Completed install in about 2-hours with a 1GB connection - never saw more than 75Mb/sec upload.

First attempt took 5-minutes to get to 17% but then stalled for 20-minutes with no activity.  Paused it, shut down the sim and restarted the Sim which, restarted from 0 download - it did not remember that it had done 17% on previous try.

Several times during install the download would stop with 0b/sec for 10-minutes or so.  But, resource monitor showed the sim was writing large amounts of data to my Flight Sim dedicated SSD.  But, the update page DID NOT show decompressing or any other indication of activity.

Each time the sim would then start downloading data again and do so for 100 - 500 MB and then go into an apparent stall.

Eventually, everything worked out OK with no intervention on my part.

That's what mine is doing (stuck on 20% fs-base-soundbanks-0.1.57.fspatch) and I think I'm just gonna let it eat (keep going) and see what happens

I guess I could leave it on and go to bed, too

....sigh... 2 hours later still endlessly stuck on decompressing fs-base-soundbanks-0.1.59.fspatch

After scouring the net there seems to be no cure for this...

Never had an update do this before...usually seemless....

Failed in MS Store. Got to update in Xbox app. Crashes opening the sim on splash screen every time...

delete the last partial download file, and the one that finished before that. And retry. This used to work every time. If you have a good file search utility, then search for the name of the file that is stuck, That tells you which folder to go to in order to delete.

If you were on the beta you shouldn't have to download anything and your assistance options wouldn't reset, unless you were not on the latest beta version.

Ok...finally got it working...

Solution for me was to find the file first in the official - Onestore - folder and right down the bottom there were 3 files... fs-base-soundbanks-0.1.59.fspatch (also .60 and .61)

I renamed the .59 file to 'old' and restarted the sim... instant download and decompression...

I then deleted the old .59 file and the .60 and .61 files were gone as had been installed too

Hopefully that helps others stuck on the decompression error...

Well I took the plunge as I wanted to fly tonight. Update took less then 30 minutes and I did not loose any settings. I guess waiting until this evening paid off.

SU14 is the best incremental performance update I've seen to date. Tried DX12 as suggested and I'd say the A2A Comanche flight I just took in New Zealand had the best performance I've ever seen in any sim. Panning with trackIR was by far the best I've ever seen. Frames locked at 30 with a 3090 and using Frame interpolation with Samsung 4KTV for 60fps on screen. Just amazing! Can wait to see check out the FWB out of some like KLAX.
