December 24, 20232 yr Hi guys, Looking to supplement my planes with a small airliner. Looking for something specific. I bought the BA 146 a while back and giving this a go. Looks good, but its so old, its really meant to be flown VOR. As anything come out in the same size range (Don't want a big one), but a little more modern. Everything is always super modern or super old it seems. Ron Thanks Ron MSFS 2024 -Too many airplanes to name. Too many airports to name.
December 24, 20232 yr The PMDG 737-600 is only slightly larger, late 1990s vintage. December 24, 20232 yr The just flight F-28 is similar vintage, but comes retrofitted with a GPS so no need to use VORs if you don’t want to. One of my favourite airliners right now, I find it generally easier and more satisfying to fly than the -146. December 24, 20232 yr Author Wow. Compared to the quality of GA planes(TBM-FSR-250), you guys have little worthwhile there, unless you want a really big bird. Pretty sure I will end up getting the 737-600. Everything else is just to scary. (except the F28, but that is just to similar to be BA146) Thanks Ron Edited December 24, 20232 yr by Ron Lefebvre Ron MSFS 2024 -Too many airplanes to name. Too many airports to name.
December 24, 20232 yr PMDG 737-600 your #1 choice got it for $35.00 a while back complete steal and well worth it!!!. Flies VNAN and LNAV as well. Simbrief works fine with it as well, some vids on You Tube help u out. Go for it. 10700kf, 3080 nividia, 32gbs 3400mhz, 1,000 watts power, M.2 DVMe !tb, boot, 1tb 7200rpm, storage, windows 10 home
December 24, 20232 yr I'd definitely go 737-600 or 700 if you can stand the size & want the other two variants (BDSF & BBJ). Either option is worth the $$$. Looking forward to the RJ when Just Flight finally get that out for something smaller... G Gary Davies aka "Gazzareth" Simming since 747 on the Acorn Electron
December 25, 20232 yr I’ve been waiting to see if the PMDG 737-700 or 800 go on a Christmas Sale, which it did not, so I picked up the 600 instead which was also not on sale but half the price of the 700-800. What a bargain even at full price. With only 69 real ones built I’ve flown in several around Western Canada here over the years and so I’m having a blast with it flying these routes in my neck of the woods. December 25, 20232 yr If you can hang on a couple of months both the just flight BAe RJ and Fokker 70 will be exactly what you’re after. I’ve read conflicting statements from JF but I believe it’s the RJ coming first in Q1 24 787 captain. December 25, 20232 yr I mean it kinda comes down to what you mean by "small", and what level of fidelity... You could consider the LVFR A318 with one of the free fidelity mods. And if it's complexity and/or performance with a small size, also check out the Longitude or CJ4. The AAU upgrades raised them to solid payware quality. While the CRJ 500/700 is a nice jet, the lack of ongoing support & updates for it (typical of Aerosoft) makes it hard to recommend. I'll also pile on to the 737-600 hype with a thumbs up. Small-ish, fast, good "short field" perf with light loads, and very inexpensive for the high level of fidelity. A bonus of picking the 737-600 is the commonality across the other Boeings. It's an easy transition if you ever want to dabble with long/heavy haul airliners like 777/787/747. Edited December 25, 20232 yr by UrgentSiesta Added
December 25, 20232 yr I would echo Jon's comment. The Avro RJ series is the one that I want (more specifically the RJ70), because it should be a bit easier to fly than the 146 for n00bs like me Edited December 25, 20232 yr by Christopher Low Christopher Low AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU / 64GB DDR5-6000 RAM / 12GB Nvidia RTX 4070 Super GPU / Gigabyte X870E Aorus Elite Wifi 7 / 1+2TB Samsung Evo Plus M2 Nvme UK2000 Beta Tester
December 25, 20232 yr Author The Avro RJ series looks very promising, but I wanted something for the holidays. I am off for 2 weeks. Lots of time to try out a new plane. Got the PMDG 737-600 finally. Thks all for making my decision an easy one. Merry Christmas to all Ron Ron MSFS 2024 -Too many airplanes to name. Too many airports to name.
