Fenix A320 Block 2 - FPS

Featured Replies

Just wondering how many FPS people are getting in the sim with the new release?

I have tried optimising Nvidia Control Panel, MSFS settings, deleting GXCache, DLCache and D3DSCache,  setting AutoFPS to TLOD on ground to 100, with FPS target of 40 but it rarely makes 40. Seems to average out in the low 30s & is pretty stuttery at airports, particularly landing and taxiing to the gate its pretty bad.

FYI, I'm running a pretty decent rig: sim installed on SSD, 32GB ram, Ryzen 7 5800X3D, 4070ti.

At a loss as to what else I can do for a smoother experience?

I have almost the exact same system as you except I have a 4090. With DX12 and frame generation turned on I can easily get 115fps in flight. Sitting on the ground at iniBuilds KLAX for example. 90FPS.

Are you using DX12 with frame generation?

Almost no problem with or without FG mod here, but in the airports sometimes it stutters (taxiing, landing and TO), especially with bad weather and fog. I have a 3080 and a 5900X. Display Sync is disabled, it seems smoother.

Missing the PMDG DC6 in MSFS 2024 (she's here, but...).

I have tried everything ( 4K textures, cutting down FSLTUL settings, turning off cabin) , and it seems that the FPS were a bit better in Fenix 1, and they weren't great then either. I think the Fenix is never going to achieve really good performance, and that is why I have sort of given up on it. I am back to flying the 737 and DC6.

I have the same Ryzen and a 3080Ti.   I use DX11 with TAA and don't use any FG mods.  I do use AutoFPS.   I get 30-40 smooth frames on the ground in busy addon airports, 60-70 in the air.  It's smooth as butter.   The FPS numbers aren't as high as the PMDG (as some love to point out!), but subjectively, the experience in flying the Fenix B2 is just as smooth and enjoyable.  This is with TrackIR so smoothness is vital to me.

The performance after this update has been extremely smooth for me.  I keep my FPS locked at 30 (1/2 refresh) and have not noticed it going much under 30 except for maybe brief times at big airports (KORD, KBOS).  Overall, B2 seems smoother for me compared to the prior version (I'm not on SU15 beta).

Performance for me is worse than previous Version.  Can't use Rivatuner as it hangs up MSFS so have to use internal vsync settings and it is not as good.

Specs in signature. For me there was a performance downgrade going from B1 to B2, keeping default settings in Fenix, with FG mod (locked at 60). With the previous version, I could do a traffic pattern at LVFR KMIA smoothly, something I can no longer do as of now. I tried turning Display Sync off, but I started getting a lag between any control I used, and it's effect on display (either selecting a new altitude, heading, or moving the thrust levers).

BUT...somehow my power profile was changed from High Performance. I corrected this, but I didn't have enough time for checking. I'll try again tonight.

Set your desired FPS using 'Max Frame Rate' in Nvidia Control Panel instead.

Try flying at quiet times or change MSFS server to a quieter one to rule out MSFS server issues.

AMD Ryzen 5800X3D; MSI RTX 3080 Ti ; 32GB Corsair 3200 MHz; ASUS VG35VQ 35" (3440 x 1440)
Fulcrum One yoke; Thrustmaster TCA Captain Pack Airbus edition; MFG Crosswind rudder pedals; miniCockpit FCU; CPFlight MCP 737; Logitech FIP x3; TrackIR

MSFS; Fenix A320; A2A PA-24; HPG H145; PMDG 737-600; AIG; RealTraffic; PSXTraffic; FSiPanel; REX AccuSeason Adv; FSDT GSX Pro; FS2Crew RAAS Pro; FS-ATC Chatter

I7 14700K. 4090 Frame gen on no difference to what I experienced in V1, Same with PMDG

13900K, 4080, 4K no issues

Same....no difference. +/- few FPS. Heavy scenery is a bit of drag...other then that OK.

With my hardware and now using FG / DX12 since the ground bleed seems to be gone, i usually get 150-ish fps in flight and in busy airports never drops below 90.

Yes, i did move into the FG crowd, slow simulator, doesn't seem to cause any issues and on a 165Hz monitor it does turn things into "way-beyond-smooth" levels. All this with a power usage in flight of 270-280 watts, but i digress...

EDIT: I am not using DLSS, it is notoriously worse than TAA and i don't need the extra 15fps.

No issues using RivaTuner for me...set to 30 FPS.

New to the Fenix 320 B2...didn't have the previous version so no comparison. No issues with FPS with B2 for me.
