No interest in the 777, but will definitely get the Max.

  • To PMDG’s credit, they NEVER do this.  It’s never early access, they’re all feature complete (basically) and generally quite polished on release.     It’s one thing they definitely do right.

  • I would guess that the MAX has been complete for some time now. Releasing it early would be a distraction from the imminent release of the 777. Once the 777 hype has died down, they will release the M

Pmdg current 737 line is Still Broken, since Sim Update 15:  Locked yoke, missing tablet, changed equipment settings etc.

Forced to restart every time for work around. But all equipment settings need to be manually reset..

Something wrong with your install, my 737 works perfectly, fly it all the time.

Conversely, I have no interest in the MAX (since I already have a 737), but I will probably be getting the low cost version of the 777 (I assume this will be the 200LR).

Pretty much the same with me; my 737-700 is all the 737 I need. As for 777s, the freighter is the one I'm most interested in. I'm not a 'people' person.

Surely not everybody was kung fu fighting.

The freighter is actually the one I really want, but the LR may well be half the price!

Mine is working fine, none of those issues,

This is really going to put the cat amongst the pigeons!

In effect Asobo are calling PMDG’s bluff; how far along is their MAX?

If it’s really that developed they’ve now got a five month window to get it out the door or risk loosing a huge chunk of sales from the Xbox market and PC guys like me who dabble in airliners….

I don’t think the fact that MSFS will include a MAX in FS2024 is going to seriously “damage” PMDG any more that the availability of the inibuilds A320 has “damaged” Fenix.

After all, there has been a 747-8 in MSFS Deluxe version from the very beginning, and AFAIK that has not affected PMDG’s plans to offer their own 747-8 in MSFS - though we are probably many many months away from when they get around to releasing that product.

If WT is doing the MAX avionics, those will probably be very accurate. The rest of the aircraft systems will probably be “lighter” than what PMDG will bring to the table.

Undoubtedly PMDG will lose at least some sales to those who want a MAX but don’t care if the product is 100 percent accurate to the  real aircraft and would not consider spending the  money for a 3rd party version if MSFS offers one for free. Whether they lose a “huge” chunk of sales is debatable.

Yes, I’ll concede this is very debatable but nevertheless I think it inevitable they’ll lose….significant sales to the Asobo Max in 2024.

I don’t think PMDG will be ‘damaged’ by this either, especially as they’re about to receive a massive cash injection but I do wonder what it will do to iFly’s effort?

They are just getting antsy that iFly might release their MAX first...

Personally, going to be patient and wait for Ifly. I liked the Ifly Max in P3D. Also, instead of the 777 for long haul cargo I'm going with the TFDi MD-11. The BB 757 has promise as well.

As far as PMDG, been using their products for years and for the most part, they are great developers but I'm not a huge fan of their company or forum culture. Additionally, I'm currently stuck with their NG which I can't use because it is still bugged. I'm taking a PMDG break out of principle. I'll miss flying the Triple 7 I think it will be an amazing product but, I think I'll manage to keep my free time busy with the others.

I bought the PMDG 737-800. But that was because there was no other decent 737 at the time. I never learned the 737 systems fully, although I appreciate that when I fly the PMDG 737, it has the same level of depth and complexity that real life 737 pilots require when they fly it (ie. Stearaman Driver who is a real life 737 pilot and posts here at Avsim, sometimes streams the PMDG 737 and I watch his stream).

I did not buy the Fenix A320 because the FBW A320 has more than enough systems and avionics complexity for my use of it. If the FBW A320 never existed, I just might have bought the Fenix A320 because the default A320 when MSFS was released has terrible flight dynamics.

So something like the 737 Max being free in MSFS 2024, would possibly lead to people like me who don’t need a “study level” airliner but just want a moderate level of avionics and systems accuracy, to not purchase the PMDG 737 Max. It will result in lost revenue for PMDG, especially if they release their 737 Max after November 19th.

Buying the MD-11 for freighter ops is very interesting. Short ops or long haul, you can do it all with this one. I’m hearing some beta testers are saying she still has bugs that need to be addressed before release but that the dev is still goi g with release. Have to see how that fleshes out.
