Because more and more sophisticated, high poly aircraft are becoming available on Xbox through the market place.

Sounds plausible, except for an elephant in this room:  what's to prevent using scaling sliders to give access to the full range of TLOD for all users, from Xbox S to PC Extreme?  What's in it for MS to force people with high end hardware not to be able to use it?  Makes no business sense that I can see.  Saying it's so Xbox S users won't feel bad seems ludicrous.  Worst case is the sim knows which platform it's running on, and adjusts the range accordingly.

In order to get the same drawing distance with the latest Beta, I have to choose TLOD 300 instead of 200, yes I have tried going back to SU14 and found out that this is the case, my computer manages to keep the performance at a high level anyway, but everyone has not that luxury.

Sure.  Does the full range still exist?  So if you manually edited in TLOD of 500 you would see equivalent to 400 pre this SU15 version, or no?

I also agree. Best performance of the latest betas. Looks like there is much less load on the GPU after they fixed the DX12 bleeding issues.

Is the Tire Friction Improved? How much?

Requires implementation by devs on every individual plane. Very few actually have it implemented, the only ones I know of for sure are the C172 and the inibuilds A300. So you probably aren't going to get a lot of info on this at this point.

Xbox is a walled garden. There are no sliders. The only graphics setting is a single button for HDR.

This thread is making me dizzy haha 😵💫 I’ve not noticed any performance degradation over the last beta versions, and I certainly haven’t noticed any LOD changes. Not saying it ain’t true though. As for the Xbox/PC same version vs different versions. Why would they reduce TLOD if there are separate versions?

Great if the dreaded DX12-bug is gone though, good riddance!

They are not completely different versions.... This is why I wish they had (2) FULLY separate builds....Xbox is holding PC users back...

I mean, that would make the most sense, wouldn’t it?

Console and PC are on separate branches. They’d have to be since PC has more options than console

It makes sense. But do we know for sure? Or is this just an educated guess? Seems to me people are jumping to conclusions based on things that aren’t exactly facts. Or what do I know, I don’t have any inside info as to these things 🤷🏻‍♂️

Is Asobo fixing the Tire Friction on Default aircraft such as the TBM ?

These are the official patch notes from the first beta. It's unclear whether "more accurate ground contact model" is only applied to C172 and Cabri or whether that only applies to the "new soft gears". Also unclear what exactly the difference is between those two items, if there even if one or if they are one and the same.

Given that this is the last sim update until after 2024 release I would not expect any further default planes to be modified.

Quote

Ground Contact Resolution Improvements

  • More accurate ground contact model.
  • Optional soft ground collision model for tires / flexible gears.
  • Enabled new soft gears on C172 and Cabri.
  • New high accuracy physics system to enable vibrations and micro movements.

There are two improvements to tire contact-friction/suspension/ground handling. One is plane specific and does nothing if not tweaked in an individual plane's .cfg file. The other one improves all planes. Is noticeable, it's not trivial. But you have to be using a light GA plane for it to become really obvious.

Performance: better. Scenery popping: worse.

The better performance Asobo says is due to code tweaking. But in the last 2 betas they are now also doing something to get consoles better able to handle this new improved code. I suspect whatever they are doing is downgrading graphics (and causing the scenery popping closer than it did before). But it is improving fps. I have enough fps headroom now to upgrade my screen size from 1.5 32" screens (a dragged window) to a full 2 screens wide (Full Screen, 2 monitors joined with NCP surround). I never could use such a wide view before (too many pixels). Now I can, even say at KJFK.

As for mismatched tiles, I saw this many weeks ago twice. So I think I know what it is, whatever I saw it was obvious (rectangular patches of wrong color). But I haven't seen it since, so I have no opinions about it. I don't think Asobo has seen it lately either, they seem confused by the complaints they read. I know I am, I can't find the issue either.
