SIm Update 15 releasing today

Featured Replies

First impressions based on performance (benchmarks taken, no mods);

  • Average FPS slightly down on SU14 which itself suffered a significant performance loss
  • DX12 now performs solidly, this was a stuttering mess in past updates then gradually got better over time but not to the point it was flyable in VR for me, but that's changed now so I may continue to use it.
  • DX11 definite stutters and performance a fraction down on DX12

Bearing in mind server load possibly plays a part in performance (has been discussed ad infinitum elsewhere) so this evening may be heavy due to the update of course, therefore I'll revisit DX11 another day. Overall though I'm disappointed the SU14 performance loss wasn't fully addressed as it's still lower than previous Sim Updates.

As mentioned earlier the Menu UI is a stuttering mess with DX12, whilst it's perfectly fine with DX11.

Disappointing to see that we still aren't back (or better) to performance pre-SU14. Curious to find out tomorrow if overflying Western Europe and Alps is still a royal pita performance wise.

Hmmm. Not loving SU15. Let’s hope it is server related issues in the main. Now that SU15 has landed bring on the PMDG 777 which surely must be right around the corner.

I can't ever remember an update that claimed the performance would improve, where that actually happened. As long as it isn't worse, I am satisfied.

16GB for an update. that is large.

Don’t forget, a lot of files are overwritten, so the disk size of the update will stay somewhat

the same.

After this update all of my payware stuff is gone/not showing.

I've rebooted the pc and still all my stuff is still gone. It's still in the community folder, but not in simulator.

Also, I'm still seeing the Dune stuff on the splash screens.

I guess it's my turn in the barrel?

Also, if I look at content manager, there's a bunch of stuff listed as uninstalled. Did the update change my Community folder location?

I'm 😞

OK. Yes. Editing this file did set things back to 'the proper way'. So, that's good. But, my configuration (graphics settings) were all changed. [i knew i should have written down my settings!]

So, it happened to me too. I never dismissed members talking about "all my configuration settings are gone" because MS. I suspect leaving the beta is what broke it. Who knows? I need a nap now after all this drama 🙂

There's a cfg file somewhere that points to the install location. I can't tell you where offhand but either search on avsim where it's mentioned often, or wait for someone else to reply. @Bert Pieke perhaps?

Thanks for the reply. I think it's the UserCfg.opt file. And, looking at this file (after not being able to see a Content.xml as it too is gone) it looks like the location of my Community folder is expected to be somewhere other than where it is. Great. I guess I'll edit this file and see what happens.

I couldn't figure out what people were talking about with this 'dune' thing. I finally realized they were referring to one of the splash screens on startup. You know things are going well when that is what people are complaining about. I usually start the sim and go get a coffee or whatever. If not, I'm going over the flight plan while the sim is starting up. I guess some people just stare at the splash screens when they should be multi-tasking.

A320NEO V2 Unwanted Liveries

Not a fan of the MS fictional liveries (e.g. XBox Aviators, Aviators, Global, Pacifica, Orbit, etc.) With some of the Asobo aircraft, these liveries could be found in the content manager shown separately and deleted. With the new iniBuilds A320NEO that does not seem to be the case. Tried deleting them from the Official\OneStore\microsoft-aircraft-a320neo-enhanced\SimObjects\Airplanes\microsoft-aircraft-a320neo folder which removes them from the liveries list but leaves an empty box in its place.

Does anyone know an easy way to completely remove these unwanted liveries?

Yes, many people forget this! Every update seems to generate a lot of "massive increase" laments, when in actuality the net increase is usually on the order of 2-4 GB at most.  For SU15, it was ca. 4 GB for me, even after all the World Updates were updated via Content Manager.

Multi-tasking? You do know most flight-simmers are male?😁

Smooth SU15 update, but can't login the Navigraph Hub, anyone?

Update: now the Navigraph Hub works again, checking for other Navigraph updates.
