May 23, 20242 yr I've just read that Black Square has already adapted the new G3X into their Velocity XL. It's a neat little plane and is quite fast... and it requires good descent planning though, due to lack of speed brakes and flaps. I think PMS has some sort of integration with the new G3X and I read on TDS discord that they've got a closed test coming shortly with integration of the G3X/GTNxi https://community.justflight.com/topic/6363/velocity-xl-and-new-g3x-coming-in-su-15 | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
May 23, 20242 yr Install went fast and smooth, about 45 minutes for everything (I had some older World Updates that I needed to install as well). Checked out the A320Neo. Looks nice, but it is not playing nice with my Thrustmaster Airbus sidestick. Can't get it to calibrate and when I have the throttle slider positioned so the throttles are in the Climb detent on the throttle quadrant, all I have to do is breathe on the slider on the sidestick and the throttles jump back to the Idle detent on the quadrant. Going to try a flight in the Fenix in a little while. "...now let's get this thing on the hump - we've got some flyin' to do!" ~ Major Kong from "Dr. Stranglove" Scott Cebula

I finally realized they were referring to one of the splash screens on startup. You know things are going well when that is what people are complaining about. I usually start the sim and go get a coffee or whatever. If not, I'm going over the flight plan while the sim is starting up. I guess some people just stare at the splash screens when they should be multi-tasking. I'm happy using the Stripr tool from Parallel 42. Much more enjoyable looking at airports from above than the latest MS marketing nag screens.
May 23, 20242 yr SU15 is very good for the last one this year. Download speed was really ramped. Only 10 gig for standard. sp Edited May 23, 20242 yr by Sky_Pilot071

May 23, 20242 yr Nice, I installed the update, did a flight and everything went smooth. Then I quit msfs, when I opened it again I have this screen: I really want to avoid uninstalling everything, does anyone know a solution for this?
May 23, 20242 yr When I restarted the sim, I got a further prompt for 16 Content Manager updates (all UK/Europe except USA POIs), although one is for LFMN Nice which I have a is an add-on anyway. 10.38GB. May 23, 20242 yr Is the update “success rate” the same for both the MS Store and Steam versions, or is one working better than the other? We need some clever person to do a sticky with a pre update checklist of things to do, like copying settings, renaming or emptying the Community folder and Cache clearing. What ever happened to “Poppet”? She was great at doing this sort of stuff with P3D. Edited May 23, 20242 yr by cowpatz Additional narrative. Cheers Steve Hall

Found the fix here: https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/you-are-missing-packages-that-are-essential-to-run-microsoft-flight-simulator/588290/7?replies_to_post_number=7 Delete (or move somewhere if you prefer) the folder fs-base-history inside /Official/Steam/ (in my case, since its a Steam installation), and then launch msfs again. It will prompt you to download additional content, then prompt to update (choose install later) and the error will be gone. Now, being a developer myself, I wonder: why throw this useless error message to the user when you could just download the missing packages and replace them in the folder instead?
May 23, 20242 yr 1 hour ago, RichieFly said: After this update all of my payware stuff is gone/not showing. this normally happens when you don't use the same path during the update installation that you had before. it is easy to overlook this small issue and simply instead accept the default that the installer suggests. it will then create a new empty COMMUNITY folder, thereby overwriting your previous COMMUNITY with all its content without asking the user first. I think everybody has to go through this at least once: 😀 How to install a new update safely https://flightsimulator.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360017133940-How-to-install-a-new-update-safely MSFS Addons Linker for your future update installs: overwriting the community folder with an empty one could also be avoided by using the MSFS Addons Linker freeware tool, as was recommended here before for this very reason: https://flightsim.to/file/1572/msfs-addons-linker hope this helps. May 23, 20242 yr Thanks @turbomax. I will definitely look for that text box from now on. I agree that my original value was likely replaced by the default value and I didn't notice. I edited the UserCfg.opt file to point to the proper location and it seems to be repaired. This might also explain the changing of my Settings values as well. Who knows? May 23, 20242 yr Everything went well and I must say that this update with the use of A320 v2 with the latest Active Sky beta, FSHUD and Google Map Enhancement (Bing Latest) is smooth as silk. I can admit that this combination is pure joy.
