The response from Martial was typical - basically he said, hesitantly...  " we don't know yet, these things take time".  But you could tell from his body language what the real answer was

That's Martial all over, Q&As are better off without him.

For the first time ever, MSFS deleted all community folder and content. This happened after switching from the BETA channel to the regular releases channel and after already started the sim 2 or 3 times yesterday. Today i started it, it wanted an update and i instantly knew what it had done when i looked at the size and it said "126GB".

This thing still has a _LOT_ of bugs and some of them are a REAL REAL pain in the rear. Fortunately i have everything i install somewhere else and handled by Addons Linker, the only real hassle is reinstalling all this nonsense all over again. Thanks MS.

Yes, I totally agree.  They have had a technical guy on called David Dedeine a few times.  He is like a breath of fresh air.  He is actually enthusiastic and can give a straight answer.
It has gotten to the stage where I really dislike Martial and his attitude, and I can barely stand to watch his smug grinning face.  95% of this sim is simply Jorg Neumann pushing it along it seems.
It is a shame Microsoft couldn't find another partner for MSFS2024, but I think they are in too deep with Asobo now.  Personally I have no faith in them.  It seems Jorg has to drive them to do anything.

500 people working on MSFS they say...  Ha!  It is obvious where their priorities are now.  2024.

You're completely wrong on that. It was actually Seb who responded and he didn't mince words. He said they currently do not have the testing bandwidth to implement the changes across the default lineup.

Oh wow, I didn't realize you and @MarcG doubled down hating on Martial for something he didn't even do lol.

I wonder if we can find a way of doing it ourselves.  It is just editing config files apparently.

I imagine so. There are tweaks to make aircraft react more/less to various conditions, effects and controls.

Not full screen but windowed mode on start still forced...

You need to reselect full screen mode in MSFS settings page or manually change Windowed Mode from 1 to 0 in your Usercfg.opt file.

I will trust that you are right actually, it may have been another issue where his response was the usual non-committal and disinterested reply - there have been so many.
I won't bother wasting my time by watching it back, but that has been the general type of response from Martial (and even Seb) at times over the past four years, so I stand by what I said.
I have very little faith in them.  18 months and a lot of strife to get the DX12 tile issue solved.  Not good is it?  And as for hate?  Where did you get that from?  I said I dislike him, and for a reason many will understand.
I wouldn't waste hate energy on anyone.

Sorry.  As much as I dislike his attitude, that was a bit tough I must admit.  I will edit it.

I generally have a lot of time for your thoughts @bobcat999 😄, but in this case I will just say that back in 2004, I'd have killed for the level of transparency and openness that we're getting from MS and Asobo with this iteration of MSFS.

Yes, they're slow at delivering some things, but I am happy to plod along with this rate of development compared to the zero development (maybe 1 service pack?) that we got after FS2004 launched... But we digress... I'm about to take the iniBuilds A320 V2 for another ride to see how it performs.

Interestingly I see some people are saying that it performs worse for them than the Fenix, whereas I'm definitely seeing the opposite.

Sim Updates do not change the opening screen. The Dune screens will not change until the next World Update, which I believe is coming soon.

The next world update is in July

there is a city update coming next week though

For me, I don't see much difference from SU14.  But at least we don't have a bad update.

As for the Martial thing, maybe it is a bit personal, and I hope you will understand.
He treated my polite and well phrased question about the long running DX11 and DX12 tile issues with complete contempt on that last Twitch session.  So how else can I react?

In response to my question, if it wasn't for the support / response in the live comments to such a poor answer, and Jayne (the Community Manager) asking again if they had maybe misunderstood the question, it wouldn't be fixed now.
All credit to her, and Jorg, for pushing for Asobo to take another look.  As Asobo just wanted to dismiss it again, with comments such as 'well, it's a big planet, and DX12 is still in beta", witch are true, but no excuse to leave this in the state it was.
That just sums up Martials attitude in general.

I agree things were better at the start, but as Asobo have been questioned so much over the last few years over bugs and unfinished features, their enthusiasm seems to have dropped.
I do give them some credit.  The general response to the SU15 delays has been harsh, with some basically calling the situation a fiasco and making jokes about it.  I don't.  I know these things aren't easy, but I still worry about their capability.

I wasn't referring to that particular one, his general demeanor during Q&As is one of someone who doesn't want to be there but has too. Generally he comes across as arrogant, ig norant (why is that word blocked here!?!) and like he doesn't want to answer anything.

Also, and not his fault at all, but his strong french accent when speaking English is sometimes hard to fully understand, another reason why someone else would be better suited to the Q&As.

I've been frustrated with the regressions, the strange development choices and lack of fixes for some key areas. However, I think it's important not to lose sight of what they actually have delivered. SU15 (finally) bringing the fix for tile issues is a huge win.

It's also still a far more immersive flight simulator than anything I've previously used.

Sim update went well for me.  Decent download speed and it does seem a bit smoother.  One thing that has happened 3 times now is that when I press ESC to pause the sim then resume, the throttle is immediately cut.

Texture bleed through on runways and aprons seems to have ben fixed and that was a big issue for me.

I also noticed that there was a big update in the content manager for UK POIs - I don't know what that is all about or whether anything of note was included.  I can't remember the size offhand but I think it was about 4.5 GB - So quite a chunky update.

People, if you’re in the beta branch you don’t need to leave it, unless you want to avoid automatically being in the SU16 beta

You'll still receive any future hot fixes or other minor updates while being in it.
