PMDG 777 and its delay

Very strange appointment - would have thought he wouldn't the best fit for any PR team.

Fixed that for you.

Now seriously, it probably uses some type or the same type of DRM protection from the 737, it's probably affected by that too. It won't release prior to them fixing that and whatever is the additional stuff they're working on. I mysef don't care, i am waiting for the MD-11 release, i find it FAR more interesting than a 773.

So we had... "you can almost smell the warm coffee and new leather, can't you" - back in December "it won't be long now" - in February "just around the corner" - in March "roaring up on the fi

  • Yea, I really don’t care about it anymore tbh. So utterly tired of the same old nonsense from RSR’s word salad diatribes and that clown Mathjis now added to the mix. I’ll keep on keeping on with Fenix

For goodness sakes will people just leave PMDG alone and let them do what they are good at (developing simulation planes) and just focus on your life and/or other planes Jeez. Let them finish the prod

I only want the 777 be launched for two reasons: I'm obviously curious (but I'm not going to buy it, it's not the type of plane I use) and especially to see PMDG move on to other projects and improve the current fleet.

...The 777 has been completed and fully tested for quite a while now. Their only remaining goal is to watch people suffer as they wait. They show threads like this on a big screen in the conference room and they all laugh evil laughs of joy as they see the mounting frustration.

Yes, thats the truth. I know it. RSR is sitting there:

I'm not really in a hurry for it to be launched after seeing what the FF guys have done with their 777. That's the good thing about not being closed to a single platform, long live competition.

I gave up waiting and installed fsx on my new machine to enjoy some of their back catalog again. Only a side project as I'm busy with other things right now. Knowing fsx it will take me a month to get it stable and running the following pmdg planes but that will still be YEARS before they all (if ever) appear in the newest trendy sims:

777-200/300(msfs this year)

747 qots ii/400/8f(msfs this century)

Md11(msfs in my dreams)

J41 Jetstream (msfs in my dreams)

Nah, it's just PMDG's unstinting pursuit of simulation excellence.  They want their customers to feel they're real Boeing customers, some of which have been pretty vocal of late...

it will be ready when it is ready.

there is no need to speculate and get frustrated over it, i got over it on the hype and waiting for updates like SU15 and other planes too.

it is just that there are stuff that goes on around our daily life that needs more attention and focuses rather than getting all hyped up on something that is, just for our hobby, and to kill time for it.

Take a deep breath, get away from it and enjoy other activities outside with your friends and family, its summer, by the time it will be ready for purchase before you know it.

I must have missed where they committed a release date that they missed resulting in this "delay..."

Oh wait, they didn't and there isn't.

the owner of the company said it was between 2 weeks and 2 months from release

Yeah, and we all know how reliable release dates are in the software industry. Come on, guys. They obviously need more time to make sure that it is working properly. Where is the problem in that?

just correcting a false statement, no interest in developers releasing products before they're ready

They didn't .. you are confusing/conflating estimating from RSR as promised dates and some gospel truth they need to then hold to. In any case, they will release when they feel it's ready, that's that, and folks just need to deal with it.

And not speaking specifically about you, there seems to be a vocal group of folks around here who seem to always await the chance to take digs at PMDG (and more so RSR).. as others have said above, not sure why an add-on developer CEO/lead has this much impact on some folks (perhaps due to history going back to P3D, and/or how they were treated on the PMDG forum, etc).. but it's rather curious and funny at the same time.

Let alone RSR and the way he communicates, PMDG as a whole make word not allowed fine planes, and that's the bottom line.. they will release when they release, and will make a tonne of cash from all the sales (like they always do). One is free to feel hyped or overhyped, and cling on to everything PMDG does, but any disappointment one might feel from some perceived delays is solely on them. Knowing how the software industry works, it's rather unwise to assume even explicitly stated timelines/dates are going to be held to, let alone estimated ones.

This ☝️...

There is a difference between "we hope or even expect to release it in two weeks to two months" to "Our release date is June 1st"    Only one of those is a commitment and agreed on the PMDG/RSR hating...
