PMDG 777 and its delay

Featured Replies

Absolute hilarity.

This is just a game, it shouldn't be a big deal as to when it releases.

Using the game hasn't stopped due to lack of a 777.

The Flight Factor XP12 might be released first if anyone is dying to have a 777. It might even be better than the RSR Tube.

For goodness sakes will people just leave PMDG alone and let them do what they are good at (developing simulation planes) and just focus on your life and/or other planes Jeez. Let them finish the prod

You jest, but I think we can safely assume this is somewhat true.

To be living inside so many peoples heads, rent free, has to be quite a power trip.

When the 777 is released, it is undoubtedly result in a massive increase of revenue to PMDG. Why would they delay it without good reason?

the "it will be released when it's ready, stop obsessing" posts are some of the most pointless electrons comitted to the internet since it's inception 😄

One thing I will say just to balance the negativity in here. XP12 looks horrific.

But obsessing is part of the core competency for what we do Avsim. 🙂

If we do not obsess, are we even alive.

(this is a joke in case it is not clear)

Thanks for that totally unnecessary jab and unrelated point to the discussion being had on this thread.

You're right, they wouldn't.

After misrepresenting how far along the development path the 777 was 2 years ago, the latest delay could be attributed to nefarious reasons. If you're a conspiracist, you could believe that PMDG hasn't been anywhere near bringing a 777 for sale, but has been teasing a release to deter anyone else from jumping in ahead of them and reducing their market share. It wouldn't be the first time a flight sim developer has engaged in 'slot sitting' on a product to prevent others from stealing a march.

However, it's possible, as some others have mentioned, that some late (but much needed) scope creep has combined with other factors to delay this beyond the two-month window given by RSR.

Whatever happens, just like with their 737, PMDG are going to be rolling in cash after the 777 becomes available.

Ah come on, unclench, its just a little attempt at humour to give this utterly banal and redundant thread a bit of a lift.

In what warped universe does that "balance the negativity"?...

Also completely inaccurate. In many ways it does look worse than MSFS, but generally default airports are much better, even if they have far too many parked VisionJets. Be nice if it managed MSFS frame rates though.

Will be happy to see either (or both) when released. In the case of PMDG, any delay so far seems in line with what you get in FS development, anyone who can't remember longer delays than the 777 is either new to FS or has a very selective memory.

I was literally about to make the same point. "It will ready when it's ready." "No point in speculating" Thanks Captain Obvious. Honestly, these are condescending responses made by some folks to create the illusion they are somehow more patient, and more mature than the rest of us. However, I view these comments simply as being childish. My apologies if I have offended anyone.

To avoid the undoubtedly massive increase in support requests if released with bugs 😄
