June 24, 20241 yr That's equivalent to 3.65% of the marketplace users (more than 1kk users in total), they've spent more than 20mi dollars so far. 227k+ (20.8%) users spent between 100-499.99 USD, that equals to between 22-113mi USD. I think it shows the hobby is healthier than it has always been. For 3rd party developers, if you want to pay your bills or if you want to make more money than you otherwise would make by developing for another flight sim, it's a no brainer to develop for MSFS. i5-12400, RTX 3060 Ti, 32 GB RAM

June 24, 20241 yr I already regret the 15 dollars I spent on the marketplace overall. For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

Yep, I think that some developers are going to have to start backtracking their statements about not wanting to develop for MSFS, stop bashing MSFS, stop bashing members who posts themselves wearing MSFS tshirts, and stop comparing MSFS fans to a cult. I just saw a DEV like that recently praising MSFS, saying how he always liked MSFS. LOL, funny how times have changed, but it was only a matter of time anyway, and most of us (I mean, millions of us) saw it back in 2020. I am curious to see the DEV landscaped over the next year or so, I think that MSFS 2024 is going to sway most of the current DEVs who have yet to jump aboard the speed train to success. June 24, 20241 yr This is why the few people claiming that MSFS will move to a subscription based service is just downright silly. MS is making money hand-over-fist with the marketplace, something that Jorg saw as an opportunity early on to monetize the platform past the initial purchase of the software. It puts a huge smile on my face to learn that a flight simulator is one of the most profitable gaming titles for Microsoft.
June 24, 20241 yr I am in that final category of over $500! Remember, MS is likely only getting 25 to 30% of that amount, but it is certainly a healthy ecosystem and generates meaningful cash flow for them. Interesting to see them reach out and engage the developer community with this kind of data in this way; clearly trying to strengthen the marketplace further. MSFS 2024. Primary Planes: Black Square TBM850, Duke, Baron, Caravan; A2A Comanche; FSReborn Phenom; Fexix A321; PMDG 737-7, 777: Utilities: Active Sky (Passive Mode); BATC, FSLTL.

You brought it up, so....Let's say there are 15,000,000 users currently. And let's say MS decides to move to subscription based and the cost is $19.95/month for the Platinum, unlimited access subscription. Of the current 15M users, let's say only 10% are willing to buy a Platinum subscription, and the rest quit in a fit of rage over how dare MS do this to us, or join a lower tier of access. Even with only 1,500,000 of 15,000,000 users hanging on the monthly income comes in at $30,000,000 per month, or $360,000,000 annually. I personally would not buy a sub to MSFS 2020 it's not quite there yet. When the ATC complete w/ AI voicings, weather, and a few other areas are perfected including overkill server redundancy then, I would happily pay $19.95/month to play, and I would consider it a bargain. There's no reason to make subscription based. That's something people keep saying since 2019 for no reason. They never said anything about subscriptions, it's something the users (us) keep talking about. 9800X3D@H150i // Msi RTX 5090 Trio OC // 64GB DDR5 6000mhz CL30 // 2TB + 1TB Nvme Dell 27" 2127DGF - 1440p - Gsync - 165hz Thrustmaster TCA Sidestick Airbus // TCA Quadrant Airbus // TFRP T.Flight Rudder Pedals // Logitech Flight Multi Panel
