This is great news. The more profitable flight sim is, the more future-proof it is.

As much as I can't stand RSR and PMDG as a company, I really like their products. Don't really care for the price, how much they made on it or all this other nonsense. I work for a living to be able to afford nice things and so are they...

PMDG knows their business. Even at this price, they will sell hundreds of thousands of 777. So it means the product was well priced. If it was too expensive, people would not buy it.

Of course, it was nice to have the Fenix A320 for less than £50. But it was not well priced as I'm sure, it would have sell the same way if it was priced £65.

I won't complain to have had the Fenix at that price of course and I would have loved to have the 777 for less than $60. But like many others simmers, I will buy it anyway.

People used to pay more than 100 USD for an aircraft on P3D days. Most like the first 6000 copies got sold to the "hardcore fans" that would pay anything. Considering the market growth of the MSFS 6000 is not much, it would be at FSX/P3D times.

I think Fenix is worth more than 50 USD, but with that price range, you also offer people living in "low-income" countries, who have an disadvanges to the US-Dollar, a change to buy the product. Also it tends to decrease privicy and bind people to the hobby because it's more affordable.

What would they be thinking? You could be more precise in your statement.

And let all be honest, if you fly a lot, I mean at least a few flights a week, the price per flight becomes peanuts for a product we will probably use for the next 5 years.

I can't count my Fenix and PMDG 737 flights till now. But I have already a lot under my belt.

The price of an aircraft is well better priced than a scenery for exemple. Because you can fly your PMDG 777 almost everywhere while you will only use your $20 scenery when you fly from/to that airport.

I figured out that you, who stated so many times on the Avsim forums, how you hate long hauls and prefer the 737. But you still purchased the 777-300ER for $77.73.

PMDG thanks you. 😂

Congrats?  Well done?  Sell more?  You need to get this intense competition idea out of your head. It’s not about being competitive among developers of one sim or competing sims. We worry about our own work. Not others. And if they succeed, or sell well, fantastic!  I’ve congratulated and wished many developers continued success.

They probably did, because Captain Sim kept releasing more products in MSFS 🤣

It goes both ways, actually. And that's not true, developers can be really salty. They are creating this enviroment themselves.

That said, I hope it changes in the future.

They probably did. A330 Driver made a video about them titled "The GENIUS of CAPTAIN SIM".

I'm pretty sure you didn't have competition between devs in mind, right? It's more about devs thinking, "Wow! I could be making all that money over there???" That's not about competition, it's about opportunity.Assuming you're talking about third party developers, of course. @Bobsk8 Let me know if I'm off base concerning what you were thinking.

I’m glad I haven’t associated with them, then.
On several occasions, I’ve teamed developers up to work on a project, and told them to go and make millions.

I can't imagine what my local gourmet restaurant is thinking now, after reading that McDonalds has introduced a new burger and sold millions within 1 hour.

C'mon people, we have had this kind of discussions since "ever". BTW, have you (gate.keepers specifically 🤣) realized, this thread is about the PMDG 777 - if I read it correct ... I might be wrong, though (please tell me, whether I misunderstood the title).
