PMDG have withdrawn P3D products from sale.

I got the basic installer and then I had to upgrade via the PMDG OP center! Please note though that I had to also do the same with the PMDG products I bought directly from PMDG. 🙂

I'm still not clear on how this is doing anything to their customers.  They haven't rendered existing purchases obsolete. They haven't announced they're ending support for existing customers of their

Personally I'm not surprised at all. Soon after MSFS come out was evident that P3D users where at a dead end with the new 777 cockpit and LNAV/VNAV revision just to name a few. All the resources where aligned with the new kid in town. But I had a tiny hope that at least they could fullfill their promises with the delivered P3D products. That was not the case. They won't see a penny from my pocket anymore. They have lost a customer here for sure.

Well. I myself find this very unclear.

Facts:

- They didn´t communicate this before they pulled the products off their site (why not just communicate this with a period like 4 weeks upfront???)

- Lots of people obviously are confused (again by Mathijs post)

- There is arging ongoing about the "tone" or "words choossen" by Matthijs. As a community manager he should be very accurate in choosing words (his salary get paid by all these people who bought, buy or will buy)

- His mentioned reason for pulling of gives further room for discussion (why would he mention this at all)? BEcause, technically its easy to implement a better UI and process to avoid people buying for the wrong plattform

I for myself find his way to communicate very unclear indeed.

I had read the subject. I am sensing Mathijs being disrespectful not only towards Ray, but also towards P3D users in general. And they closed the subject so we, P3D users to not comment on it. This is really disrespectful. I hope this is not the end of the route for support on P3D users. Also I would like to respond towards Mathijs that if P3D users did not bought their planes before ever MSFS was part of the picture they were not going to have their money right now. It is very disrespectful to handle a member of community in such manor. They clearly are neglecting us without warning.

Just say'in. We paid a lot for this stuff. And they cancel us? Are they kidding us? Is that even legal?

What a move of disrespecting, So now I'm hoping for a crushing P3Dv7 ... 😁

In fairness they delivered to you what they said they would.  They never promised compatibility with future versions of p3d.  You also at any time can go onto the PMDG website and download your plane if you already purchased it.  So in that sense I don't get this claim.

This latest chapter between P3D users and PMDG should be laid to rest. I'm a P3D user and while I buy and have bought PMDG products since FSX days, I'm not a PMDG groupie. We know that PMDG has even suspended selling similar products within the MSFS line not to confuse their customers. We should know that Mathijs is Mathijs and he hasn't changed just because he moved to PMDG. We also know most in the P3D community are sore at PMDG for suspending P3D development. I think we're taking this incident as an opportunity to express that frustration. Let's focus on enjoying our P3D. Better quality of life.

Not being someone who gives up easily I’ve now sent a PM to Mathijs Kok asking the same question directed to RR.

Perfectly polite and pointing out three requests to RR were ignored. Let’s see how this goes. I feel I’m handing them a shovel and they continue to dig holes for themselves.

If one needs to remove a product from their website so as not to confuse their customers, one needs a better website or find customers that can read and comprehend what they've read!!!!!

If this big bold lettering in RED on your purchase page doesn't stop someone from purchasing the wrong product  "THIS PRODUCT IS FOR MS 2020 ONLY" or "THIS PRODUCT IS FOR P3D ONLY"

Then maybe they should stick to smaller less complicated aircraft, then the rest of us wouldn't have to deal with this nonsense every time there may be an addon that may confuse some!!!

If it's an outright stoppage/removal due to their bottom line, then a notice should of gone out! Wouldn't want to be someone that purchased the day before removal.

Take yourself back to January 2009 and the closure of the Aces Studio. I can remember the anguish on these boards. No more flight sim from Microsoft.

Hi ray,

Over my many years of flight simulation and using various products / base platforms. I came to the mindset very early on that after a certain amount of time used, I would consider my money well spent, the only way I found to move on as the community grew over the years.

Unlike material items that break over time, and most people would consider that physical item to be money well spent after a period of time of use. Since our flight simulators don't break (for the most part), some look at the dollars spent and have a very hard time letting go because the item still works.

With my mindset (even though it ain't broke, it's still time to move on) I have no problem moving on to newer, better platforms and 3rd party products along the way. I may have spent more cash along the way, but I've also experienced many more things as well.

Mike, newer is a fact. Better is subjective. I weighed up the pros and cons of any alternative to P3Dv5 and decided the cons outweighed the pro. Note the singular. I’ve spent too much money and particularly time and effort sorting out all the issues with v5 and have reached the point where I’m totally satisfied bar one minor irritant that I can live with.

What is it? Overly bluish atmosphere which seems unfixable.

Hi Ray,

Newer in the sense of hardware/software and the ability of the newer software to take advantage of the hardware improvements. Vulkan and Ray Tracing come to mind here.

Since you are happy where you are with the exception of one item, have you tried to use re-shade or Nvidia filters? Haven't used P3D in some time so I'm not sure if they are compatible. I noticed if I renamed Xplane12 exe file to flightsimulator exe or eurotrucksim2 exe I'd get additional filters in Nvidia. Wonder if the same holds try for P3D.

Ah right, I get it. I can remember when I got my first Chillblast computer back in 2018 and Ray Tracing had come out. It needed the more expensive 2080Ti and there was no indication it would come to P3D. So I stuck with the 1080Ti. It still hasn’t for P3D as far as I know.

I’ve bought ENVSHADE and ENVPLUS. Both have improved aspects but the blue haze persists. As I said I can live with it and don’t really want to try other products of which I know little.

Wouldn't Nvidia filters affect all colours? I’m only interested in reducing blue in the atmosphere.

Other than that minor quibble everything else is great.

I'm not sure how in depth the filters go as I use reshade myself.

Are not we getting a little off topic and risking the wrath of the over enthusiastic ??? 🤔

But carrying on regardless...Yes the Nvidia filters would tend to effect all colours, pretty much similar as the Reshade ones, although the reshade shaders do provide a huge number of options on LUT management, as well as items like ambient occlusion, you could even apply TAA anti-aliasing if you'd like.

Unfortunately LM... for whatever reason wrote their shaders with such build in problems like too dark cockpits, and way overdid the blue haze, it's almost like they'd not been up in a plane before... That said I've seen many other developers build such wierd things obvious to everyone else but themselves (dev crew tend to have a different breed of somewhat blinkered logic).

Anyway I've been playing with the shaders a bit myself because v5 made it so hard to consider due to such obvious issues and one by one I've been culling items out of my list, not all done yet but getting there.

The funny thing is, in the various shader files there are many ortho options which completely change the look of the sim, I assume those sort of options are in there for the LM/mil developers to create their own look over whatever custom scenery they are using.

Would you like to try out what I've configured so far ? It's basically 3 shader files and provide for the look of below (clouds excepted).
