You have some evidence for this?

Yeah, the evidence is the thread on the PMDG forum…

Does anyone still believe that this is just a temporary halt to avoid confusion? I don’t think so.

Stability: Latin is a "dead" language, meaning it is no longer evolving. This stability helps ensure that medical terms remain consistent over time.

Hence my thought that perhaps a so-called dead sim has certain advantages. How many times has PMDG and other developers had to do fixes after sim updates.

Such is progress.

Was facing a dilemma of whether to finally buy the 777 or not, given the state of PMDG's attitude towards P3D.

Happy that they made the decision for me. Long live the TFDI MD11!

Sorry to say that the MD11 is nowhere near the quality level of the 777 though, sure that it will improve given time.

In my opinion it's not exactly the same as it was with fs9 and fsx, because P3Dv6 is a new platform, ready to be explored by developers willing to invest in it, and supported by LM...

So it's more a strategic decision given the amount of effort they have put into the MSFS platform.

It's sad for P3D users who have invested considerably in PMDG addons along the last decade.

It’s sad because there is so much potential in P3DV6 that will not be explored or realized. It is IMHO a beautiful platform. Diamond left in the rough.

Indeed, unfortunately not, basically unflyable in P3D for me atm given the VRAM issues. At least the same license covers all versions so if I do eventually move sims I'll be able to have another look at it in the other sim when it's further along in development perhaps. It's got good potential but needs work.

What I can say with some certainty is that TFDI are at least much more pleasant to interact with than PMDG, I'll be holding off on PMDG until I need a 747-400 for another sim.

I fly the MD11 in another sim, it does work, but it needs a lot of work to bring it up to scratch - the 777 I use in P3D as I prefer the freighter, I'd take the 777 in P3D over the MD11 in "Another Sim" 10 days out of 10...

It really disappoints me that PMDG would desert P3D users without even a notice or warning.  After all the money they made off P3D users, many of which also purchased their FSX aircraft back in the day (me included).  They seem to not care at all about, or have any gratitude for fans of their aircraft that supported them for so many years and it's sad.  I notice the 737NGXu is not listed over on Aerosoft like their other P3D add-ons still are which is really disappointing.  It was literally the next aircraft I intended to buy this month.

I asked them in a ticket if they would consider adding it but they said it's not going to happen.  I still want to buy the 777 and the add-on for it as well as the add-on for the Queen of the Skys II 747-800 variant (I already own the base model) but now I don't want to give them another dime if they won't allow me to buy the 737NGXu.  I would rather give my money to iFly and buy their 737NGX instead and just go without the add-ons I still want from PMDG.

There's plenty of other nice aircraft to fly I would rather spend my money on.

737NGXu

I was also contemplating buying the NGXu because I have the NGX from back in the day but hadn't upgraded up to now. Before they withdrew it however I opted for the iFly 737 800 Max, and after spending a bit of time with it I am very impressed. The textures are better than PMDG, the system depth is incredible and it's quite a bit cheaper. Everything seems to work, the only slight disappointment is the sounds, which could be better.

All it would take would be for PMDG to make an announcement in advance and explain what they were going to do, and maybe give people a chance to buy a few products. But that was too much trouble or not in accordance with their strategy to try and move  people to MS.

I'm watching some people fly the 777 in MS with terrible frame rates, it's like when FSX first came out and therr systems just can't handle high settings at payware airports. Hardly an upgrade IMO.

You should check out Simmarket or your favorite store, for a sound pack.  I know there's one there specifically for the iFly 737NGX, I recall seeing it there before and it's by TSS.  I have the TSS sound packages for the FSX PMDG 737NGX and the difference is amazing.  TSS is the best if you want high quality sound.  Not just engine noises either, some packages come with other sounds too (I think the iFly one does).

At least I can still fly my good old FSX version of the plane around.  I always keep FSX:SE installed so I can still fly certain classic FSX aircraft that I still love.

Edit: I realize now that you said the iFly MAX not their NGX, there should be a sound package for that plane too I believe.

PMDG has been a toxic developer with incredible arrogance issues from the start, which doesn't change the fact that the products in P3D are the best money can buy, [FSLabs comment redacted by moderator as the incident was many years ago.]

It's just hard to do without PMDG when they deliver products of such quality.
The good thing is that MSFS has opened the door to the mass market, and developers can no longer get away with their practices when there are good alternatives.
