PMDG have withdrawn P3D products from sale.

Featured Replies

I don't wanna be rude, but I sincerely doubt that PMDG would pull off MSFS products from market if MSFS at some point becomes obsolete.

The problem is deep, too deep to be solved by my opinion. Today I had a dreadful conversation with someone that had the audacity to praise Matijs for his behaviour towards P3D users. I trait not being malicious, but the guy was so toxic that decided to mock me in facebook about my facebook wall, that I was " attention seeking" and to mock me for being ill and taking a lot of pills per day.

I felt like word not allowed. To me ever since MSFS was part of the picture something in the people that joined keeps me nervous to this day.

That's because the ongoing toxicity in the community. Even in this topic I faced mockery from a person. I am sincerely not buying MSFS no matter how " good" it is. The reason is not in the sim itself, but the ongoing toxicity of the community around it.

PMDG doing this to us is one more example of this toxicity.

What are YOU talking about? Of course PMDG sold P3D addons. They did for many years until they arbitrarily removed them when the 777 became available for MSFS.

The whole point of this topic is about that decision and how they have reacted to customers questioning if it is temporary or permanent.

The lack of any formal announcement seems to confirm their decision is final. It may not be a conspiracy but the way they’ve handled the situation is far from professional.

They did the same with Fly! 2 and left their users abandoned to catch the fs9 boat....

I’ve asked PMDG if their decision to withdraw sales of P3D is final. Let’s see what they have to say.

Ray, I think this is a language problem. Surely, he means  " PMDG's add-ons weren't selling"?

C'mon Ray, clearly he means PMDG weren't selling enough P3D addons currently. At the end of the day, its a commercial decision by PMDG. You've got yourself a copy of what you wanted from them anyway so why would you care?

I'd suggest that PMDG weren't selling enough addons to make it commercially viable to continue supporting their P3D products (honestly, if they sold more than one copy of a P3D product a week I'd be amazed), so have started phasing them out and no longer wish to update/fix/sell/support/be involved with the platform. Its not a difficult business decision to understand - I just think you don't like it because it reinforces another nail in the P3D coffin.

When addon developers stopped selling their products for FS9 were you also this aggrieved?

Maybe he did but I based my reply on what was written, not what might be assumed.

As is becoming normal for Mathijs he’s given an oblique reply …”The products are removed from sale at this moment.”

So he didn’t clarify the situation and answer a simple question. Topic has been locked again so there appears no point in asking them again.

Get back on topic please.

No offense, but you didn't seem to have a problem with going off topic yourself a couple of pages back. You didn't feel the need to 'moderate' that?

It's a shame PMDG stops selling for P3D, but I understand if sales stay behind. Who knows what the future brings and what LM has in store for P3D.

You didn’t point me to my “off-topic” post but if it related to shaders I replied to an invitation. Nothing more and the deviation was only for a few posts.

That’s the point. They haven’t definitively said that. See my earlier post with Mathij’s reply. Non-committal then locked.

I understand their reasoning for stopping P3D products, however if they are not producing new products, and that includes all the developers not just PMDG, then users are not going to buy. Remember most P3D users have already got the products, hence very few or no sales.

Produce new products and you will have new sales. Update products with an upgrade price and you will have sales.

I think the discussion at the moment isn't about why PMDG stopped selling P3D products, but rather how they are - or aren't - communicating it. I say that because people are permanently coming back to the "why", and I think no-one has any illusions about PMDG's reason for it.

PMDG has been a toxic developer with incredible arrogance issues from the start, which doesn't change the fact that the products in P3D are the best money can buy, [FSLabs comment redacted by moderator as the incident was many years ago.]

This says it all. When it comes to airline flying I always seem to come back to their jets as much as I detest the condensation from them. It is what it is and after all it’s just a hobby and there’s so much more to living.

Given the international element in these forums, what appears to be intolerant arrogance to
one reader may be seen as nothing more than a direct comment to someone from a different
cultural background, or indeed with a less self-centred view of life.

The fact is that the customer is not always right and those who expect to be treated as if they are
may well take offence when they are not, especially when a developer will not accede to their
sometimes purely personal request.

Another fact is that when there is a product for sale for more than one simulator, customers
do indeed buy the wrong one, either by mistake or because they don't read the description.
This is no different to the motorist who fills their vehicle with petrol (gas), when it is clearly written
on or near the filler cap that the vehicle uses diesel.
That is so common that there are companies that make a good living out of draining fuel tanks and
systems and repairing the subsequent damage to engines.
We are all human and therefore fallible.
