Will we have Fly-By and Tower Views in 2024?

Featured Replies

This has been requested so many times by those coming from FSX/P3D but I haven't heard a word for MSFS 2024.  Anyone read/hear anything?

Personally, I've never missed them but I never used those views in FSX either.

There was Active Camera for FS2004. Had many useful features including fly by views, landing view, tower view and a walk around mode. Here we are 20 years later, and we don't have any of it by default.

I've been editing some old 4k videos I found on my hard drive that I captured in fsx with chaseplane. Dang I miss that product. Switching between views was so smooth! Tower views meh as ac tiny but a view at the end of runway of your approach or of you from any parking's spot. The sky (and the ground) was the limit back then.

These will be in 2024, but probably in replay view only to start with.

This info comes from a recent question and answer session involving the new replay software to be built into MSFS from a current replay tool developer that they have taken onboard for 2024.

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Intel 14900K in a Z790 motherboard with water cooling, RTX 4080, 32 GB 6000 CL30 DDR5 RAM, W11 and MSFS on Samsung 980 Pro NVME SSD's.  Core Isolation Off, Game Mode Off.

It was announces at FSExpo that Flightcontrol Replay will be part of FS2024. It has Fly-By already  for FS2020 (beta), but it is $20.  Don't know if it will have tower views...

Most of what is said on the Internet may be the same thing they shovel on the regular basis at the local barn.

Yes that was it.  Now I remember, I think the answer on the tower views was "we are looking at it...".  Quite a common answer that.

This is one of many strange design decisions on a cutting edge project, another being the old fashioned pause that actually pauses.

XPLANE, DCS, P3D all have FlyBy view for years, but not MSFS, nor will MSFS2024 from have it in first release.

As we do not have the view of an airplane moving in the sky in MSFS, but only have the earth moving, MSFS is rather an earth simulator than a flight simulator. There is really no sense of speed of an airplane in MSFS.

Sure there is just look out the side window during takeoff and you can't miss it 😉

Here's hoping they make a whole new camera-system in MSFS2024. I still think operating all the different camera modes in MSFS2020 is far to cumbersome.

For example: I've always loved to see my own landings from a distance, in FSX we just had Tower view to achieve this, very simple and clean.... but nowadays i'm not even sure how to do this in MSFS2020.

For sure, and a puzzle that it's never been implemented, or isn't implementable as nas123 seems to be considering.  I think it's highly doable.  After all, we can see other planes flying in diverse directs as AI traffic.  No plausible reason they can't program routines we're after.
