July 13, 20241 yr Spain are very beatable with a dodgy defence and a centre forward who often has trouble finding the goal. Their big strengths are confidence and a way of playing that is ingrained into Spanish football. These two elements alone make them formidable. On an individual basis England have more talented players. Harnessing them together as a functional team has always been the challenge. I think England will overcome Spain on Sunday evening. I wonder what Ray’s reading of the form book/tea leaves is going to tell us?

July 13, 20241 yr What worries me is the ability of Morata and to a lesser extent Cucurella to change the course of the game. Both are past masters at feigning injury and I can see one or other of them winning a bogus penalty or getting someone sent off. And before anyone starts, the penalty offence in the England v Holland game was a straight leg, studs up challenge with no contact made with the ball. That's a potential leg-breaker and yellow card if not a red anywhere else on the field, so it was correctly given as a penalty.
