July 19, 20241 yr Moderator This is the latest from the BBC… ”Everything points to this being a Crowdstrike issue. If it was a Windows issue it would be even more widespread. The irony here, of course, is that Crowdstrike is a cyber-security product, so designed to protect computer networks from outages. In this case it looks like it was that software that’s led to these huge issues.” Oh, the irony. 🤨 Ray (Cheshire, England). July 19, 20241 yr Unbelievable that a single point/software failure can lead to this magnitude of problems. Should be regulated via law. If you would have asked this to the big companies yesterday ,they would all be saying a thing like this is impossible, many security guards, we have multiple security layers etc etc bla bla bla. This will happen again of course. If the internet is becoming as complex as nature itself, it will also be chaotic as nature. Including tendency to unpredictable disaster. Most "wise" companies either have data, applications or outsourced backbones through the cloud. Granted everyone strives for redundant links and backup circuits but if the same software is on every link and circuit having a backup won't matter. Unless you are running a completely private backbone with Air Gapped DC's it is inevitable outages like this will impact anyone dependent upon public transport/public cloud and potentially even private cloud. July 19, 20241 yr Is it up and running yet? Is it only affecting some parts of the world? I'm referring to MS and X Box servers rather than the rest of the issues affecting global networks?
