Well the harvest is coming up, so it will be correct for at least a few months of the year. But MSFS doesn't have built-in seasons anyway, so you have to live with whatever Bing gives you, and that has always been the case. I thought MSFS users knew this. MSFS2024 will improve this issue of course, with proper seasons. I wonder how they will do that. Just a colour mask over the top do you think? Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind). July 27, 20241 yr I sincerely hope that clear demarcation line between green and brown is not visible in the simulator. That is totally unacceptable. Unfortunately it’s correct for a few weeks of the year rather than months. In reality, even flying into Southern England and usually the first thing that strikes you is how green it is.

July 27, 20241 yr Flew around a bit of Scotland last night, the improved DEM is very good and makes for great scenic bush flying. Flew a little bit over Ireland this morning and the (new) DEM is pretty good, mountains still too rounded in places but overall better than it was before so makes it another place to discover with some bush flying. It wasn't just late summer harvest, it was July 2022 where the UK saw one of its worse heatwaves (i loved it), but it did have fields on fire and catching local homes on fire, it was pretty drastic and in all honestly not sure why when many peoples lives were being ruined (not overly dramatic, homes were burnt to the ground) bing decided it was a good time to go grabbing images... I mean if it had been a week when the UK was covered in snow would they of done it? It is what it is, next question was it this World Update that did this, or the other UK one i updated? I guess i'll uninstall one at a time... Flying over yellow burnt fields isn't fun for me because I live here and it looks stupid, despite being real for like a week, in a game world you would have UK being green end of. They have missed a trick, they could of sold a separate DLC involving experiencing flying over the UK in July 2022 heat wave, could of had us dropping water onto the flames... Silly time to grab the images. It would be the same if they grabbed images in the western USA at just the time it greens up, when most of the time it is desert like. I have no idea how it works but I would imagine Bing buy satellite data and these are the clearest images to hand but you’re essentially right, this is as far removed from day to day reality as the one or two weeks of the year when there’s snow on the ground.

July 27, 20241 yr Prefer having green roads to the yellow and brown fields everywhere in southern UK. It's the same reason why Horizon Sim's UK photogrammetry for FS9 and FSX was problematic, the aerial photography was done in August. Great for one month of the year in the sim, terrible for the remaining eleven. July 27, 20241 yr The ground imagery they had in the preview images in the last Dev Q&A is newer than what we have now, at least at Farnborough. The imagery we have in-sim right now at Farnborough has buildings that don't exist anymore, those buildings are missing in this image. Edited July 27, 20241 yr by Tuskin38
July 27, 20241 yr I've pretty much flown all over Scotland after the update (low flying GA, starting from Shetland): both aerial imagery and mesh resolution looks superb. Just crossed over to Londonderry for a tour of Ireland, so far so good. And so far my favorite aircraft is a close draw between the newly aquired OV-10 Bronco and SWS' Kodiak - both chosen for visibility out of the cockpit. Anything slower than 170KIAS and I start getting impatient 🙂 Update: Just landed at Aerfort Dhun na nGall which is a handcrafted airport, nice surprise! I'll switch to the Bronco and do a fast run over to Belfast. Edited July 27, 20241 yr by Cpt_Piett 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 64GB DDR5
July 27, 20241 yr So i uninstalled the UK updates and the bing maps are separate, I'll live with it by not flying in those places, the green areas look great, just a shame really, massive fan of this game never ever slagged it off but i'd be amazed if they keep it that way for 2024. Jorg has said that when 2024 releases they'll be updating all imagery to its latest version for both sims.
