I truly wish that all these mandatory updates were made a thing of the past. Remember the days of FSX and P3D? If you were happy with how your sim was running, then you could simply 'pass' on the update and simply enjoy a stable sim.

the positives vastly outweigh any negatives in my opinion, this model is here to stay

Not everyone installs every world update, so it can be someting you only do once or twice a year. I'm at a certain age where I sometimes forget how to do unimportant things I only do every 6-12 months

  • I keep crossing my thumbs for people finally remembering this for good. After all it's only been the 17th one... 😁

  • My house looks like my house now and not a random town house as it was previously, right down to the recycling bin in the front yard and trampoline in the back garden which we got rid of 3 years ago b

My football teams training ground is also nicely detailed, might have to go land a chopper on the roof.

I've just realised why my house now looks like my house and not a generic model, the Photogrammetry area around Brighton has been vastly extended to the West. Previously it cut off around Shoreham-By-Sea/Southwick area and now it extends a further 14miles to just past Littlehampton (Climping/Ford to be precise).

That's quite the extension, only as far as halfway through Peacehaven to the East and still the same South Downs area to the North, where the vast dryness of the Summer Bing Maps meets the lush green of another season which looks complete naff (a downside of PG).

I live and fly in the UK. Looks pretty great with default or Bing latest to me. Brown, yellow and 1000 shades of green is what I am seeing. Just like when I look out of a real aircraft window. I only fly south of Watford if that makes a difference.

are you saying different people see value in different things, and not everyone agrees on what the "problems" are in the sim?

interesting

It doesn't quite reach my current house unfortunately, but I flew over the last one earlier and it was almost perfect. I've been flying a lot today (avoiding the Thames which I still can't bring myself to look at) and it is pretty stunning.

What a shame that they have seemingly done nothing to eliminate those horrible "land bars". Final approach to runway 02 at EGHI Southampton, with all of that wonderfully detailed scenery below me....and then I see those two hideous virtual barriers across Southampton Water. Immersion absolutely trashed

OK, but many areas of the UK were done during a heatwave, hence bing maps being full of burnt yellow grass, not nice and not at all normal to what people flying into the UK see.... clearly google dont pick one in a decade heatwaves to do imageing.

This was a "World Update" Howard, not a "Sim Update".  Only the Sim Updates are mandatory.

If you want the better UK and Ireland update you have to manually go to the Marketplace to select it and download it.  You don't have to if you don't want to.  Did you download it?

Ah, my bad Rob, of course! I feel really dumb now! I'm full of covid at the moment and I think it's playing with my brain

Eh?  Bing latest in the SE UK depicts a country that hasn't seen rain in months - totally unrealistic to how the UK looks most of the time.

Eh? I was in the South West today and the South. All very green except the occasional brown ploughed field.

OK well just looked South West on Bing (despite the fact i made it clear i was flying in the Midlands and other guy said South East) but anyway, maybe you flew in the bit before the sudden line into the rest which is burnt brown dead fields, its what Greta sees when she closes her eyes at night.

This ain't normal.... they messed up big time with bing here, worst point to take images. But you keep telling yourself this is how you see the UK....

Proof if any more was needed. July 2022, heatwave caused fires and carnage. Lenham war memorial hit the news as it nearly burnt away when field caught alight...

Bing maps and thus in MSFS if you fly over it.........

Finally, my house is my house!😊 Even if it does look like it's in need of even work work than in reality.😄

The photogrammetry of Edinburgh seems to extend out as far east as Port Seton, which is quite impressive. That's about 14km/9 miles from the city centre. Westwards, it doesn't seem to go so far (perhaps South Queensferry IIRC) - 12km/ 7.5miles, but a 26km spread east to west is pretty good. Edinburgh definitely looks better with Orbx landmarks active, especially the Castle, which still looks a bit generic post-update

have you given it time to load in?

if you slew across London at warp speed in the drone it will be trying to download PG for everything in sight

Flew from Biggin to Farnborough last night by a roundabout route and yes, it’s obvious this is data from just after late summer’s harvest.
