Anyone else NOT getting photogrammetry in Edinburgh city centre? The trailer for this WU depicts Edinburgh as having photogrammetry.

Not everyone installs every world update, so it can be someting you only do once or twice a year. I'm at a certain age where I sometimes forget how to do unimportant things I only do every 6-12 months

  • I keep crossing my thumbs for people finally remembering this for good. After all it's only been the 17th one... 😁

  • My house looks like my house now and not a random town house as it was previously, right down to the recycling bin in the front yard and trampoline in the back garden which we got rid of 3 years ago b

Will test later. I have Orbx GB North installed so I'll need to pull that and compare.

Ryzen 9800X3D, RTX 5090, 64GB, Win 11. MSFS2020. Moza, MFG, Fulcrum & Virpil controllers. Quest 3 for VR.

The PG in the videos looks nice, but I am still perfectly happy with full autogen mode. Having said that, I will probably test PG mode again to see how it looks and performs on my PC. I assume that the POIs are all 3D models (rather than PG)?

Hey Donka, thank you but no need now. Dumbass me though WU UK&Ireland was vIII not vXVII which I have now downloaded and its working. After all these years I still can't get used to the Sim Updates, the World Updates via Marketplace and the Content Updates via Content Manager. Ugh

London looks great BUT this update has broken the PMDG 777 🙄 Now need to reload the aircraft via Development Mode to make it "wake up".

They finally fixed Isle of Man. No more garish green and purple ground textures! Very welcome.

Only took them 4 years!  Looking forward to flying to/from and around the island, and building some additional POIs to improve it even further.

I live in a non-PG supported area, so with a new UK World update I thought I'd take a look at my local area again. I must say I'm not impressed with the way the AI processes Bing Map data.

For example, there's little or no attempt to remove or soften shadows from roadside trees etc., and due to the colour of these shadows it sometimes makes it look as if part of the road has turned into a stream. There are also a large number of images of cars which have not been removed from the roads. I'm fairly sure this was handled better in previous versions.

If I look at my house it's once again made a bad job of it. It's always converted my two-storey detached house into a bungalow, but this now looks very drab indeed, and my single-storey detached garage, which previously was turned into a two-storey house which partially blocked the road, has now disappeared altogether.😀

I really hope that MSFS 2024 will do a better job.

Hi everyone,

Has anyone tested any or all the orbx dlc and the U.K. update?

I’ve got

orbx U.K. mesh

dublin

london

uk south central and north?

all from marketplace.

I was going to delete them all and then do the WU and see how it all is without them, it looks like loads of the new WU POIs were in the orbx U.K. VFR packs so there might be conflict ? Same with the mesh and city packs etc,

For those using ORBX Great Britain, North, Central, South and London, I have not noted any conflicts or ugliness yet over quite a few flights.  I'm guessing that if ASOBO did add a few POIs then the ORBX would probably override them, though if there really are no conflicts, then it would not need to.

I'm not sure if the ORBX British Isles mesh is required any more and I am wondering whether there is still anything to be gained from Taburet's Coast and Morph fix.

ORBX Dublin is fine with the update also.

So far, the orth looks decent enough but I may run with the most recent Bing Maps mod to see how that looks later.

Ryzen 5800X3D, Nvidia RTX5080 - 32 Gig DDR4 RAM, 1TB & 2 TB NVME drives - Windows 11 64 bit MSFS 2024 Premium Deluxe Edition Resolution 2560 x 1440 (32 inch curved monitor)

I suspect that the ORBx Great Britain Mesh product will not be needed anymore, as the DEM resolution quoted in the World Update 17 blurb is very high right across the board. However, I do not want to uninstall the Great Britain North/Central/South products, as they will have lots of landmarks that are not included in WU17. I just hope that there are no ugly conflicts (or ORBx release updated versions to make everything compatible).

Not seen any conflicts with GB North so far in my testing. Did note that part of Glasgow just to the east of the airport is totally flat though with no buildings - can anyone else confirm? Also seeing flickering on the motorway that runs alongside the airport (to the south).

Do you have the ORBx Great Britain Mesh installed, Donka?

World Update is not quite representative as most updates only cover US and EU 😃

Those countries are the easiest to get data for.

Didn’t break for me. And you’re the only person I’ve seen say this.

Nope, never used that, just the GB North, Central and South. I'll try with those removed but doubt they are the cause since they only add POIs and there are no POIs in the affected area. The rest of Glasgow including the centre is fine.
