FSL has missed the boat. FSL is dead. Long live FSL.

They likely have missed the boat on the A320/A321/A319 CEO.  But still plenty to work with in regards to the A320neo series, A330, A340.  But I have no idea what they have planned

  • Maybe they do not talk about the addon itself, but their new DRM? 😉

  • The irony here…

  • I always supported them in FSX/P3D etc, but to be honest, they would have to bring something ground-breaking to the table before I would be interested. If it's another A320 then forget it. I

I must say that I can’t get too excited about Concorde. It’s been grounded now almost for as long as it was in service and it’s very niche.

Don't limit yourself to only in service planes.  You miss out on so much.

I wouldn’t pronounce them dead, but they will definitely put themselves on complex situation. If they really have innovations like they’re saying, they will probably have a market share to claim.

I guess the question is would most simmers care about the differences between CEO/NEO? And by most simmers I mean exactly the bulk of the market that make MSFS so lucrative for developers.

At this point, if we look at the market from that perspective, we have three A320s and now the variants are covered as well. We also have two A330s coming as well.

Other than the Concorde and A340 – what’s left?

That would be really exciting! That is a plane that if FSL did to their quality standards I would certainly purchase.

But as others are alluding to, I do not see myself purchasing another A320 CEO aircraft, regardless of novelty features.

MSFS 2024. Primary Planes: Black Square TBM850, Duke, Baron, Caravan; A2A Comanche; FSReborn Phenom; Fexix A321; PMDG 737-7, 777: Utilities: Active Sky (Passive Mode); BATC, FSLTL.

Flight sim needs every quality developer we can get. Let's see what they will come up with.

If they add some value to it, I’m sure people will buy it. We just need to know what they mean by “features not seen before (or whatever phrase they used)”. If the plane is really better than the others, people would buy.

BUT there’s also the possibility their first plane won’t be the A320. Like others have said, we need to know the product first, so we can evaluate.

Thanks for these charts! I'll have to check up on the Marketplace presentation from FSExpo.

Overall, Windows + Steam revenue is 60%, so PC revenue is higher than XBox (I assume the chart meant Windows 10 + Windows 11, I don't know why it just says Win 10). What would be interesting to know is the sales of the more expensive add-ons for X-Box like the PMDG 737.  If XBox users are willing to pay as much as PC users for the expensive add-ons (ie. add-ons that are $50 or more greater), that would be a very lucrative market for some of the add-on makers that make the more premium add-ons.

There's a TON of good info in that preso. Straight from the CMO, too.

They talk about addon pricing, too. 😉

HIGHLY recommended.

I mean, what else can they innovate that Fenix hasn’t?

Panel states would be the only additional feature I can think of and OOOI. Nothing I really care about or disrupt me from flying.

Agreed…I honestly have no idea. Fenix pretty much dominated the 320 series market in terms of visuals and fidelity.

Take me back to the days of the big wide body jets like the L1011 and the roaring sounds of the Boeing 707 & DC-9. Aircraft that burned so much fuel that air pollution wasn't even a consideration, where the black smoke billowing out of your engines on takeoff meant they were working right. Aircraft that I have to fly, not program for 30 minutes like we're making a trip to the Sea of Tranquility on the moon. Big heavy wide bodies that behave like an ex-wife does when you're late bringing back the kids from a fishing trip late at night; pure dread, white knuckle time... Hours of absolute boredom interrupted by seconds of sheer terror as you look over at your 24 year old co-pilot with a look on his face like he just messed his shorts.

Andrew

Well, let's see what they come up with. In the past, they were the most advanced Airbus sim out there, and I've flown their planes many times.

But nothing perfect, and their planes fly way too much like they're on rails, and some reactions are even demonstrably wrong - and they don't even admit it when you tell them.

So what I don't miss is the eternal wait for an update due to all the workarounds they always use, the snootiness with which the developers have always appeared - and the prices.
