Need Advice on rolling chair

Featured Replies

I just bought a new chair for FS2020. Trouble is when I use the rudder peddles the chair moves back. Yes its on wheels. I can't be the only person that has run into this. So, looking for some advice. As I write this it sounds like a stupid questions. But, its a real issue.

Thanks to all who reply. Don't laugh too hard.

  • Putting some old shoes under will stop your chair from rolling. Like this: Shoes really do work well for stopping your chair from rolling around. : r/simracing (reddit.com)

  • Or replace the castors with brake castors:-   https://www.amazon.co.uk/INCREWAY-Casters-Replacement-Universal-Function/dp/B07TTQXB1D

  • Chocks, just kidding. Mine is on a plastic mat under my chair.

I also recommend locking castors. Perfect solution IMO.

+1 for this, I had the exact same issue and decided to do the same thing once I realized I really don't need my chair to roll at all.

I have castors but then I have bumpy sort of rug under my wheels.  It works alright.  My pedals tend to move around on the floor a little though - the rubber feet have worn off.

I too went for locking castors, these ones to be precise. Although these are out of stock, I'm expect there are identical ones under a different brand name. I chose them because they use inline skate-type wheels, so the polyurethane won't mark more delicate flooring than I currently use them on. They also don't slip on low grip surfaces they way solid plastic wheels can, again avoiding scratches.

But as noted above, if you don't need the ability to move the chair around whilst seated, go ahead and replace the stock castors with non-moving pads.

Try Velcro sticky pads under the pedal base and on the floor. Have to position them just right but holds fast.

I also use a bumpy throw rug. One end is under the rudder pedals (which are mounter on a piece of plywood), the other end of the rug is under the "rolling" chair. Seems to work well.

I stuffed cardboard/foam into the rear castor mount. Instant brake. As I realised I would never take it out I poured some super glue in there instead. Cheap and very effective. Invert the chair first though you don't want glue the chair to your carpet.. 😉

Some planes feature a tablet that pops up. Look for: wheel chocks.
