August 16, 20241 yr I had exactly the same problem... Luckily, I have a 3D Printer (these days everyone should have one, they are so useful and cost nothing), I 3D printed 2 Castor Cups and place the castors in them... stops movement completely... August 16, 20241 yr I had the same problem. Trying to taxi a pain. I use a small straight backed chair beside my computer that I drag over for flying. All other computer use is with my rolling chair. i7-10700 CPU @2.90 GHz, 32 GB Ram, nVadia GTX1660ti, Samsung 1 TB SSD Drive
August 16, 20241 yr The locking castors I mentioned in an earlier response are not the ones you have to manually lock by flipping a locking tab on each castor. Instead, they are the type that automatically lock when I sit down. In other words, they are weight activated. When not sitting down I can easily wheel the chair out of the way for cleaning/vacuuming the floor or for doing an maintenance on my sim setup. https://www.casterhq.com/Self-Braking-Chair-Casters-s/898.htm Edited August 16, 20241 yr by Noell Lloyd Noel (Ontario, Canada) Intel i9 [email protected] / NZXT Kraken X73 AIO / MSI MPG Z590 Gaming+ / 64GB DDR4 3600 Corsair Vengeance LPX / Gigabyte RTX4080 Super Gaming OC / Dell S3422DWG Monitor / Corsair RM1000e 1KW PS / 1TB WD Black M.2 (Win 11 Pro) / 1TB Sabrent Rocket M.2 .(MSFS2020) / 512GB Sabrent Rocket M.2 (XP12) / 1TB TimeTec SATA (Misc. & FS Support)

I had the ones with the brake levers, got rid of them after a week, kept banging my feet against the levers and losing skin of the back of my feet 😬 !

I used locking neoprene casters on my previous chair but they tended to swivel even when locked - with the furniture (carpet/floor) protectors I use they have a grippy rubber bottom and the groove on top holds the wheels/castors more firmly so they don't swivel. https://www.amazon.com/Furniture-Protectors-Silicone-Scratches-1-75x1-75/dp/B07PMXKZRY/ref=sr_1_21?crid=21Q4JWG7779EF&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.NkEyq8YlN2fIIjcJKL8kB9jaBgb5WSqHRsB2R4Bl7N5OhgMXccoZKr5EwjnezkM82jgJ-WqVTVkF17R4wUFIeW3RDSQK0jo2Icq8o-40_hVG4fFE0Kc-o8wupG6i8BrSe2khfUeRI7u_WVjS1n_gyyuUU7uzuD9jmqHn_Gyv3X3S_0ajgNIUPHIvjeoIZ180cSdfjJQ9a0n1p7hK1YF_fBpDLKDEdeRz3A_L8fJCsGqztdf8G2cie4Ga9m-FA2U-QQjRO5OUHhqfKVp7Gh76fj-bPJ5X2V2ddqWBYKUTT4M.ek4ETfvjTCmeOngEgxs-THtsObyuPkQ45zAIfZY-Nkw&dib_tag=se&keywords=chair%2Bcastor%2Bfloor%2Bprotectors&qid=1723864678&sprefix=chair%2Bcaster%2Bfloor%2Bprotectors%2Caps%2C106&sr=8-21&th=1 https://www.amazon.com/SlipToGrip-Bed-Furniture-Stopper-Brown/dp/B085B67JN2/ref=sr_1_53?crid=21Q4JWG7779EF&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.Gp76dO-a25xD_ujs9NrJNCRXzsrJCo39eyYxiMEil1lOvGwJ_l3E8SCvHme4VteWP1-Cwc-jGZtfsrfn3md4tMPi93JrR4rCW9cLnxnaZ-MDZFnEb4oG1GDQ0vm-weUGJAfHsGatcEfcTnffjKhdJw.GWW-GTnqOeYHysb-VY_2eHg9KHeYdNrQMnbSN59zaIg&dib_tag=se&keywords=chair+castor+floor+protectors&qid=1723864740&sprefix=chair+caster+floor+protectors%2Caps%2C106&sr=8-53 https://www.amazon.com/Yupeak-Bed-Stopper-Furniture-4PACK(Dark/dp/B07NYNFJRH/ref=sr_1_37?crid=21Q4JWG7779EF&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.NkEyq8YlN2fIIjcJKL8kB9jaBgb5WSqHRsB2R4Bl7N5OhgMXccoZKr5EwjnezkM82jgJ-WqVTVkF17R4wUFIeW3RDSQK0jo2Icq8o-40_hVG4fFE0Kc-o8wupG6i8BrSe2khfUeRI7u_WVjS1n_gyyuUU7uzuD9jmqHn_Gyv3X3S_0ajgNIUPHIvjeoIZ180cSdfjJQ9a0n1p7hK1YF_fBpDLKDEdeRz3A_L8fJCsGqztdf8G2cie4Ga9m-FA2U-QQjRO5OUHhqfKVp7Gh76fj-bPJ5X2V2ddqWBYKUTT4M.ek4ETfvjTCmeOngEgxs-THtsObyuPkQ45zAIfZY-Nkw&dib_tag=se&keywords=chair+castor+floor+protectors&qid=1723864678&sprefix=chair+caster+floor+protectors%2Caps%2C106&sr=8-37 i7-6700k • Gigabyte GA-Z170X-UD5 • 32GB DDR4 2666 • EVGA FTW ULTRA RTX3080 12GB
August 17, 20241 yr I use this as part of my ( entry-level ) sim-racing rig: rock-solid with a office chair on wheels: ( Part of this setup: ) > ' Next Level Racing Wheel Stand 2.0 ' I am a tall guy - 6.5 ft / ~ 200 lbs > the thing doesn't move. [Note1: The entire rig is not ideal for flight-sim - you could however improvise a little and try fixing yoke/flight-stick/throttle and more onto it if you wanted - it's very modular. ] Alternatively and more to the point: Only use the floor 'arrester' aka 'cradle' to hold your chair in place via fixing the cradle segment to your desk. ( Some metalwork, get some extra struts / screws to extend and connect to desk legs ) With this you don't have to modify your chair at all - simply lift it up a little drop in in the 'cradle' - done. After sim session ( If you are a little creative in connecting it do your desk legs and considered a 'quick release' mechanism ): Bracket can easily be removed, folded up and stowed away. [ Note 2: Haven't found the chair cradle purchasable as single item so this solution might require you getting the entire rig - approx. 200 USD ] Maybe worth a thought. Requires a little improvising and some basic metalworking though.
